If like me you find it a pain having to rev to 2500rpm when going out early sunday morning in the S, then it may be worth going the route I went and fitting a Normal Lucas unit. This one is a new one I bought years ago for a Land Rover, all i had to do was find a pulley of the right diameter (Scrapyard £1) it went straight on and now charges from about 1100rpm from start. I would recommend going for the higher rated version though as this ( This one is a CA17H) is only rated at about 35-42Amps depending where you read up, the original is about 90 I think (god knows why)

May be of interest to someone.
