Don't suppose someone happens to know where the ECU diagnostic (OBD, 3 pin) port is on an S3. Had a look in and around the engine bay but couldn't find it to plug a fault code reader in. Wondering if it's hidden behind the glovebox etc. ?

Pull down the trim above the passenger footwell. The connector is among the mass of electric string and bits that fall out...

Port duly found where described smile but interestingly doesn't have the standard Ford traingular port on the end. So the Draper fault code reader adapter doesn't fit. Connector on the loom is a straight inline plug, with Brown, Brown/Green and Blue Green wires which according to the wiring diagrams are the ECU connecotrs. So wondering if anyone out there has found the same, and identified which wires would go where on the Standard Triangular port ? Wish I still had my Sierra to check in this instance !!

There was a thread a while ago where a PHer caller baggybird had figured out the wiring connectors and how to connect the tester up.

Can't search just now though.

Well the wire colours are correct so its just a case of someone looking at their connector to say what position each wire is in for the connection to the correct postion on the tester connector... I'm 150 miles away from my car at the mo but someone must be able to look (or have a photo perhaps) ?

K wink

When triangle is facing you
Top: Brown/Green
Right: Green Blue
Left: Brown

Diagnostic plugs into black connector with top off ( not one with red cap)

Thanks guys, wire/ pin arrangement spot on smile. Hooked up the fault code reader and happily set everything into service mode, and then did the ECU fault read out for which there were none ! Only thing the FCR doesn't seem to do is read the ECU when only the ignition is on... but otherwise all good.
