Been doing a bit of research and can source heated windscreens for circa £250 + vat and carriage, would need to place an order for 15, lead time circa three months.

Is there any interest?

Hey Norman, you're getting big into manufacturing these days!

Ricky Evans can be found at www.heatedwindscreen.com but I cannot find any TVR fitments listed on his site. He has been in the business a good few years that I know of.

Anyway, yes I would definitely be a taker for a heated windscreen.

Hi Norman

Its great that you are putting in all this effort for our cars.. I am a definite maybe on this one What time scale did you have in mind.?

Is this for a kit, relays and wiring etc or just the screen.. I am right in thinking TVR didn't do this option aren't I.. I am sure stranger things have happened. Ford had some 10 year exclusive deal on the technology or something.

Cheers

Hi Damian

We are only talking about the screen, but relay and switch are quite straight forward. The tech.spec. is 12v, 14amps, 168watts and comes with cable connections for live and earth. Requires a relay (preferably with timer – available from Ford for Mondeo/Focus heated screens) and a switch (push-button, reset type if using a timer relay).

As soon as at least 15 sign up I can place the order (will need a deposit from each) and then it will be about three months.

Nope this is something TVR never did!!!

I'll not be needing one of these - I would have when my S was my only car - but I just wanted to say good work (again!) Norman clap

I was looking to help Griff/Chim owners as well but have withdrawn due to a lack of interest and advice that those screens were very difficult to manufacture and many pattern screens have been rejected/scrapped with the only satisfactory supply comimg via the OE route.

However the situation is different for the S.

I have found a source that can supply heated screens for the S for £250 (to be confirmed) with a fitting cgarge of £60/£70 (to be confirmed). BUT the good news is that we would only have to order 5 and we could choose the tint screen by screen. So any combination of clear, green or blue tint (for the whole screen) or with blue/green top tint. It was mentioned to me that clear with no top tint is recommended for the taller drive so he/she isnt trying to look straught through a heavish tinted area.

These screens and fitting would be suppied by a very well known national windscreen chain with good expierence of fitting to TVRs.

I'm happy to carry on with this if at least two more commit

Thanks for the effort on this one, I am going to need a new screen soon as mine is suffering the scourge of the creeping white mist. Not sure how long it will last so I am interested in buying a heated one especialy as I use the car all year.
I presume that the electrics are not included in the fitting estimate but will be straight forward and no expensive control gear is required.

Regards
Rob.

This is such a good idea.. is it worth deciding on the electric parts we need and group buying them as well.?

Thoughts..?

Also does anyone have a schematic for the install.?

Cheers

Heating is by a fine wire system embedded between the glass layers (similar to that in a Ford Mondeo). The tech.spec. is likley to be 12v, 14amps, 168watts.

Comes with cable connections for live and earth. Requires a relay (preferably with timer – available from Ford for Mondeo/Focus heated screens) and a switch (push-button, reset type if using a timer relay).

Obviously needs connecting to the ignition controlled circuits so it cant be left on.

I will confirm the tech spec and costs asap, then if all is acceptable cheques will be needed with tint required.
