I think he had Leven or someone similar make one specifically for him. It cost him a lot IIRC when I spoke to him.

When I get time I am going to make a template and have one made as I have a friend who can do it.

I am also thinking of covering the dash in Carbon Fibre as I can get hold of Carbon Fibre sheets relatively cheaply! Does anyone know how easy it is to shape Carbon?? What special tools would be needed? Also has anyone re-covered their dash, is it relatively straight forward??

Would anyone else be interested?

Does anybody have the template for the dash and switch panel..??

If not does anyone know where to get one....

I can generate one if I had a dash, I could get the form scanned, then produce an engineering drawing...

Sorry, not me. I was going to go at producing one at some point. Maybe one that would stick over the existing dash.

What would be the best method/material for a template?

I'd be interested in a alloy or CF dash if someone was going to make one, I'll also gladly hep anybody who needs it.

All I need is the outline trace, so that I can supply a DXF file to have one laser cut in S/Steel, Aluminium etc...

I've had some heel plates with the TVR logo made but haven't fitted them yet...

I'll see if I can get a good outline trace soon. What would you need it out of?

Would you be willing to sell me a set of heel plates at all?

Dave, if we were to get a template, what are the estimated costs for Aluminium to cover both the Veneer parts of the dash???

1. I would transfer the outline to my CAD package so that I could output the file to whoever needs it, or put it on Pies Site....

2. If I could get hold of a whole dash, I could probably get the outline scanned by a local friendly enginering company.

3. As I haven't fitted my heel plate yet I will let you know, how it goes and if I can get a couple more made....!!

4. As far as costs go....I'm not sure as friendly engineering company don't yet know about this possible project.

5. They would Laser cut the dash from sheet, so finish and material thickness would govern some of the cost.. I will investigate further.

6. I'm probably going to get a new switch panel made first as mine has been resprayed (previous owner) the same colour as the car after the veneer was flaking.

I will post pics when I have had it made.

Yes I did get the dash lasercut by Leven. They should still have the patterns. If your going to get the switch plate done as well you might consider changing the switches for aircraft style toggle switches like on E Types. Unfortunately I didn't think of it until afterwards.

Simon

I can't remember exactly how much I paid because it was lumped in with other work I was having done. But I think the stainless on it's own was about £200.

Do you think there is any chance of getting a dxf or dwg format drawing of the dash from those wonderful people at Leven? I have access to (o.k. I do the programming for) a CNC machine and was considering making my own but have not had time to measure the dash.

er... probably not.

Why would Leven want to give you the drawing, so you can produce it... without them making any money?

Simon,

I have just been looking at the photos of the front of your car again. Could you let me know what the "Pitch" (spacing between the wires in the mesh)is on your front grills. I have been looking at the grills on both Jags and Rovers and trying to decide which size I prefer. Your set up looks great so, if you don't mind I thought i'd copy it.

Cheers

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

No problem at all about replicating my grill. In fact I can you give all the details about where to get the materials and give you some tips on how to get the best results. I'm just about to go on holiday so I wont be able to give you an answer until Monday week.

Cheers,
Simon

I'm not sure if the S/Steel dash works on all colours.... I don't like it...

Yes I am not sure about the Ally dash now I have seen a few, I have decided to go for the Carbon Fibre dash, like Ballistic Banana. I have managed to source some Carbon Fibre sheet and will probably have it done by end of March! I will be buying more than I need would anybody else be interested in a Carbon Fibre dash??

Let me know.

Mike
