I am having the interior retrimmed on the V8S and am thinking of changing the window switches to the newer Griff ones so I can use the Leven covers to match the other Alluminium dials/Stalks/gearknob/Handbrake handle I have on order!

Has anyone on here changed their and if so is it a relatively simple changeover? Also does anyone know the part number???? Or from exactly what year of Cavalier they came from??

Much appreciated.

Don't know the answers myself I'm afraid, but a previous thread (leather dash) mentioned Shmern's site.

The pics show window switches that look different - and look like Griff's to me.

Are these what you mean - maybe Shmern has the answers??

This is something I've been thinking about recently... but not got round to looking at.

Shmern has an S2, so his switches are different to the S3 thru to V8S...

Have to keep my end up...

I tend to use "whats new" and look at the thread titles rather than the forum... allows me to slip in a quick one...

I was looking at this option and found these on ebay http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?MfcISAPICommand=ViewItem&item=2461347644 ( The Griff used vauxhall cavailer switches but I have since found a one off set of chrome rocker switches which I am going to fit instead)

Not sure how easy it will be to pull apart and fit the leven covers but at £4 it’s worth a shot. I tried breaker yards for the part and they wanted £15

Cool. How do you wire them up..?

And what would you use to fill the gap...? (the current ones look bigger than the replacements..)

LeeBee has done this so I have mailed him for advice on whats involved in changing them over.

I am retrimming the whole car so filling in shouldnt be such a problem, although I shouldnt think there is much difference in size. I am going to Offords at lunch time so will measure them!!

LeeBee has an S2... so his are dash mounted, and a similar shape.

The ones in the S3 onwards are transmission tunnel mounted and rectangular... hence my question.

Keep us informed though..!

I remember from my S2 that they are dash mounted but they were still oblong and not oval. You are right though they are a little smaller than the S3/V8S ones thinking about it!! Hopefully LeeBee can help if not I will leave it to a mechanic!

I will let you know once its done

My window switches are modified Vauxhall copies with Leven outer surrounds (I ditched the inner switch cover as I set up the illumination on them (changed it from orange to green though!)

This was Lee's e-mail reply to me when I asked about them last year, if it helps any.

Podie I have now checked and they are the same size length and width wise, so shouldnt be too difficult to fill in with the vinyl!

I have also been told by TVR-Power that they should be easy to fit as the wiring is apparently the same.

I am going to order some and will let you know!
