I have since found out you can buy them from TVR-Power for £13 each new!!!

Cool. How do you wire them up..?

And what would you use to fill the gap...? (the current ones look bigger than the replacements..)

Podie I have now checked and they are the same size length and width wise, so shouldnt be too difficult to fill in with the vinyl!

I have also been told by TVR-Power that they should be easy to fit as the wiring is apparently the same.

I am going to order some and will let you know!

Mike

Where from?

If you're ordering some, I'll have two... happy to stick a cheque in the post..

Success! - it's a rear window switch from an early '90s Vauxhall Cavalier - Part Number 90318942.

Don't know if they are exactly the same, but just noticed the window switches in my girlfriend's Corsa look right! I feel a cunning plan coming on...

Hi Shmern here (not been on in a while)

The window switches in my S2 are indeed old Cavalier ones, however the hole in the dash needed *slightly* enlarged to allow it to be fitted, no problem for me as I was recovering it at the time and the Dash was out of the car. Would NOT like to be doing it in place !

Wiring up from memory was not really a problem. I can look up my notes for anyone who needs a hand.

Some pictures (number 30 - 37 i think) of the dash out of the car and slight modifications needed for the windows switches HERE

And some pictures in the car (also LeeBee Alloy controls too !) HERE

Shmern
(preparing the S2 for MOT for the new season !!!)

I popped down to a local scrappy and got a pair of Cavalier window switches... having looked at them, compared them to the existing S3 switches and spoken to V8Smith... it seems the TVR sourced ones are modified slightly...

Hi Podie,

Long time no see, you even listed me on the missing members post !

Having looked at a griff switch I think they are a *bit* different (it was a year ago so can't remember exactly) but the cavalier ones work fine. I can help you out with the wiring provided you have note of what wires went to what terminals on your existing switches.

I'll have to dig up my notes from the removal of the dashboard first tho, bear in mind I've moved house and everything is still in boxes (we are all living in my parents house while waiting on our new house)

Sorry to be the party pooper, but I don't see why you'd want to chance the existing S3 switches for the Vauxhall ones, except maybe if you wanted to fit the Leven covers.

IMHO the illumination on the existing switches looks better and they're less obviously donor parts than the Vauxhall ones.

Not trying to be disagreeable, just curious...

I have the Leven covers for mine to go with all the other Ally bits I am having made at the moment. Thats the only reason I have changed, IMHO they do look better as the old switches are a bit dated! As for illumination............they're illuminated......? I dont drive mine in the dark, its only a summer car. I do agree though I wouldnt have changed if not for the Leven covers!

Hello mate, been a while! Glad you're still with us!

If you can dig out the notes I'd appreciate it...
