Throttle cable alternatives

Thanks for your comments; it all sounds very familiar so far. I too bought a cable from same source and it didn't come with the little black clip, my previous one was bolted at the engine end and worked fine. The previous cable came off the pedal end once before only and I thought I should change it. I should have left well alone.

Went over to try and help Tim fit his throttle cable today. Complete pig of a job and the bloody thing did not want to play ball.
I was supplied with the same cable that Tim was and I had the same problem of getting it to fit through the bulkhead and it was also to short.

I decided to look for an alternative I sent my original outer to these gents . They made me a new inner nice and substantial with well made fittings at either end.
Cost was £40 with VAT and delivery so not cheap but still going strong.

Once again, thanks for your help on Saturday. I went to the cricket on Sunday, when really should have been out for a drive, which would have been better than sitting at Lords for an hour and half when no-one really knew why we were there.

Anyway it was great to receive the help and I hope I can recipricate one day. I am going to get one of these replacement cables sorted out I think, went out today and the cable worked well.

Glad to hear you got it sorted Tim. Just changed mine (one from TVR Car Parts) and that wasn't easy (or cheap) either.

Might help someone searching for a cable to modify (providing the search comes up with this post). While looking for something else I came up with this one on Car Builder Solutions, item THCAB with SHACKLE. I could readily modify one of those to work.
