Just to clarify - she sold the car over a year ago, so you don't need to add further "welcomes".

Also, where did Glenrobbo get "Colin" from" Or is this a cliquey in-joke that I am missing?
Hi Andrew,
I got the "Colin" from "safarijus"s profile page.

So let's all say "Welcome" to Colin thumbup

And get the owners lists updated.

So far for trying to stay anonimous wink Thank for the welcome wishes! My name is indeed Colin and ofcourse I tried to find all the answers to my "tvr" challenges on this forum by searching first just how my mommie told me to do back in the days smile I already spend a few hours on this forum because Trevor (as we like to call him) joint our familie with some issues.... Things like a faulty aftermarket alarm system, broken fuel pump, clutch operation issues, brake issues and in desperate need of a full service etc.... Its a car which has been standing in a garage sinds 2005. In good condition but like a cars which have been unused for a while in desperate need for some TLC. All mayor parts are in greatshape though like the body and the chassis and its compleet and although dirty in great condition.

In Holland these cars are very rare and a left driver one quite expensive compared to the UK. Although without a MOT and hazzards and horn wich arnt working not that usefull smile I've bought the car as a pressent for my dad at a goverment aucction were they sell stuff from people who are in debt and cant pay there taxes anymore or are in jail smile

So the thing I thought and maybe its best to make a new topic. Both hazzard and horn isnt working and I quess this is because there is no power on the purple red colloured wire at the indicatorstick on the stearing wheel. Is there any one who can confirm this is actually the power line for both the hazzards and the horn or is it just the power line for the horn?

Also does anyone know what happens between the fuse box and the indixatorstick? Because I've got power on the clock and the interior light and I think its the same powerfeed?!

All help is welcome!

Thanks Colin

scratchchin Could this still be the cause of the problem? Is there a taped up purple/ red wire somewhere?

Both hazzard and horn isn't working and I guess this is because there is no power on the purple red coloured wire at the indicator stick on the steering column. First of all, I just want to be sure that you know that the horn is operated by pushing in the indicator stalk, not the centre "horn push" in the centre boss of the steering wheel. Some MOT testers have failed S's because they do not know this.

I have checked my car, the horn & hazards both work with ignition off, the L/R turn signal indicators will only work with ignition switched on.

The circuit diagram I have is not very clear in respect of the column switchgear, so I can't be absolutely certain that the purple/red wire feeds the hazard switch, but it definitely supplies the horn, interior light and clock.
The flasher unit is supplied by two wires, light green, which I assume is hazards, and light green/ brown for turn indicators. I may be completely wrong though.
If your clock & interior light are working, you may have an open circuit on the purple/red wire somewhere after them, or your horn switch or connector may be faulty.
By the way, is the little bulb in your hazard switch lighting up when you switch hazards on?
Have you ensured that all of your earth ( ground ) points are good?

Hope this helps,
Good luck,
Glen.

Yes fixed it! After hours of checking double checking and testing all possible problems all the problems were coused by a foulty indicator stick which I changed already last week and a wire which was broken inside the mantle and hidden behind the dashboard above the tunnel console smile So aftherall quite a simple fault but finding it is alwayse the problem with electrics....... Thanks Glen for your support and checking the horn and hazzerds on your car. These kind of forums and help make those jobs doable.

And the the first testdrive! Wow! What a car. As there was some work going on in front of my garage and with having the car bought not running I have had the change of driving it but now all work on the car and in front of the garage is finished we did our first testrun last night and that feeling is really priceless! Afther hours and hours of work and challenges driving a car for the first time.... My jaws hurts from all the smiling smilesmile

In about an hour its going for the MOT so hopefull this weekend we can have some real (legal) fun smile

Thanks all for the tips and reply's.

Well done Colin, that's good news.
Your persistance paid off! thumbup

You cannot always assume that a replacement part is serviceable, but it is very easy to think that because you have still got the same fault, the problem must be elsewhere.

Top Tip.
A wire that has broken inside its' insulation can be a PITA to find, but using a pin with your multimeter or test lamp to probe the length of cable at intervals can be a great help.
But try not to get blood all over the interior trim.

Good luck with the MOT Test, I hope it passes ok, and you & your Dad can enjoy it. I also hope your weather is better than ours at the moment, it's peeing down here in NW England.

Also, watch out for an announcement from Longers after Xmas about the S Club Eurotour next year. It's not to be missed! Your Dad may even qualify for membership of the exclusive Gentlemens' Touring Section.

Meanwhile, Enjoy that S driving
