Now that you have got me all sentimental about the old road, I must have a blast up there in the Vette. I will bring back good old memories. It was that quick that road I used to hit the limiter on the Chimaera. For me the best section of road was Bronze age way.Where the old Pirelli tower used to be.

Excellent, now there are 3 of us! It can bite back though as there are some interesting camber changes and bumps that can catch you off guard if you don't know the road!

Never seen too many decent cars on it though....and the suped up PUG boys won't play against the Boxster S off the lights!frown
That's why I like it - it's not a simple case of foot to the floor, you've got to be a bit more cautious. I've never seen decent cars either, but the suped up pug boys along with the golf GTi and 1 series "rudeboiz" always seem to be up for it, probably just as well as I'd get destroyed by a Boxster S!
The DC between between the local dump and the entrance to the dartford tunnel is equally as good with an even more "interesting" surface

There's a camera on the start of that bit now (near the erith roundabout) but according to my radar detector it's a fake - I don't have enough balls to test that though! We should have a road appreciation meet biggrin

Its been a good while since i've been down there but the camera after the Erith roundabout has always been there and they turn it around now and again.

No scameras on the belvedere to woolwich strecth tho.

There used to be a chap with a TTRS i'd see occasionally but never on the same stretch of road.

I wonder if last time they turned it around they removed the internals? Was the TTRS blue? If so he lives down my road, see it all the time around here.

agreed! Away for the next 2 weekends (goodwood/silverstone this one and then off to somerset the next one), defo up for a meet after that!

Also would be up for getting a few cars on the Abridge to fyfield run and then have a drink/lunch in the Queens Head in Fyfield.

Show of hands for interest on this?

Sounds good to me: I'm moving to Surrey on the 22nd but will be back around the area quite a lot. You'll all likely destroy me with your cars though, I only have a measly 150BHP!

Try and drive it whenever I have a free Saturday.

In addition the dual carriage way that runs from woolwich to belvedere an on to Erith. A 'friend' of mine had his old S2000 up to 145mph on that stretch..... Lovely fast sweeping left hooker!
Used to use that road when I lived in Erith. Many a time I used to take the old Chimaera to big speeds on my way home at 4 o,clock in th morning.
glad there is a fellow PHer that appreciates that bit of tarmac! smile
Ahhhh the Thamesmead Speedway...know it well in the Cerb.
New Specs cam just after/before the Thamesmead island turn off though.
Oooooops

Got a streetview of the camera location? I'm heading back there this weekend and was hoping to have a quick blast down there but don't want to get caught out. I didn't even think they were using SPECS in that atea.

And yes, I agree we definitely need to have a PH road appreciation meet driving

Ah yes, there's always been one there but it was vandalised years ago and they only just replaced it. Interestingly, my radar detector doesn't get set off by it, so I'm 99% sure it's just a housing: there's no camera inside it. I don't have the balls to put it to the test though.
