My wife, daughter and MIL are heading down to London for a few days soon and want to see Matilda and do some shopping etc.
Can anyone please recommmend a reasonable and suitable hotel locally please?
There are loads on the various websites, but we're not sure that they are within easy reach of the areas that they need to visit such as Covent Garden and Oxford Street etc.
I've suggested that they camp out under some arches somewhere but they don't seeem keen.

It's very easy to get around so just look for a hotel near a Central Line station. The nearer Oxford Street you are, the more central. Try west before east though.
So, Bond Street, Marble Arch, Lancaster Gate, Queensway (AKA Bayswater), Notting Hill Gate.
There are loads of hotels near Lancaster Gate and Queensway, so that would be my first choice. I don't know any specific hotels though.

Budget and what do you want from a hotel, 3*, 4* or looking to splash out and get a midweek deal on a 5*? Also where will you be shopping, Westfield in White City, Oxford Street, Notting Hill or Chelsea??
The tube is simple to use and getting around is easy if a little time consuming. Am happy to help just give me something to work with.

Somewhere nice not not too expensive. Comfortable and not ultra modern. Within easy reach of Oxford Street etc. They don't really know London, so just as near to the shopping districts as possible. They are nervous of big crowds and the thought of the tube! Like they'll be no crowds in Oxford Street!

Loads of Holiday Inns around the area...
There is one on Welbeck Street, which is a minutes walk from Oxford Street, and subsequently close to all the train lines you will need

I stayed in the Rathbone last week, that was very central and reasonable.

The Marylebone Hotel in Welbeck Street is wonderful or for something a little more unusual but still great value why not try the Grazing Goat in New Quebec St. Reasonable value, a great location and top class food. My local pub too.
