South (M3) to Stratford route

My TomTom keeps trying to take me via Central London when travelling from the M3 to Stratford.

Until now I've always gone right around the M25 and gone via the A2.

My question to someone that knows the route better, am I right to ignore the sat nav?

Yes ignore sat nav. My first choice route would be the same as yours - M25 anti-clock to J2 then A2 to blackwall tunnel, then A12 north side exit at Bow for stratford.

It really depends on the traffic / time of day though.

Avoid the south circular at all costs - it sucks balls.
