Bit baffled. You go past the Starbucks at Hooley, the speed limit lifts to 50mph, then you turn left to join the M23.

At some point the speed limit goes to NSL, but I can't for the life of me see where the signs telling you that are. Does anyone know at what point the speed limit changes, or are they not needed for motorways?

I use it regularly .

The speed limit is 40mph on the A23 till the sliproad isn't it ?

I don't pay that much attention as generally I am in a fully laden HGV and acceleration isn't it's best

feature and breaking any limit is unlikely.

ETA I might be passing there tomorrow and will pay more attention to see what's what.

I live close by an funnily enough can't remember a sign, always assumed it was just up to the limit turning onto the m23.

40 from Coulsdon to roughly the Starbucks, then 50. Then NSL... at some point smile

Maybe motorways just don't need speed limit signs...?

I passed through there today, albeit north bound and you're right about the 50 sign.

I'd assume 70 starts as soon as you enter the slip road.

Might as well add it to this thread as it's M23 biased.

A customer told me that he has received a NiP or whatever it is for doing 49 through the roadworks

between J8 and 9.

So the av speed cams are working.

There aren't any, but as far as i'm concerned as soon as you go under the gantry and see the little sign that says M23 Motorway on the left it's NSL and a 2 lane which means 70.
