The return of: Son of PH Pint in Enfield Anyone?
Discussion
The Robin Hood is more expensive than The Plough for both food and drink. I personally think The Plough would be better especially if we could all park together in the left hand car park (as you face the pub).
As I am the newbie here I will now go and sit in the corner with my hands on my head and wait until I'm told what to do.

I must admit I had been favouring the Robin Hood, but now I've been there again I'd definitely say stick with The Plough - I haven't been in there, but McMullen pubs tend to be reasonable in a corporate sort of a way and I'd rather it was unexceptional and cheap than unexceptional and rather pricey as The Robin Hood is. Unfortunately it's the closest thing I now have to a local and even that proved quite a long walk from the Chase Farm sort of area!!As I am the newbie here I will now go and sit in the corner with my hands on my head and wait until I'm told what to do.
Elliot - The Plough is on the edge of Crews Hill. If you're approaching Whitewebbs from the Enfield end, rather than turn right and go past the transport museum and The K&T, keep going straight on (towards Cuffley I gues??) and after about 500yds (past the Whitewebbs junction) you get to a 90 degree left hand bend. Go round that and The Plough is pretty much immediately on your left.
Either that or listen for the next noisesiest thing to your Stratos!
D'oh, of course, the pub amongst the main nursery drag. That's fine by me. Wasn't Freddie going to do an in depth investigation of the two?
I suppose that we really should finalise a venue now that there's only three weeks to go.
Chris, you walked home from The Robin Hood? Blimey, I wouldn't fancy walking along that narrow pavement back home after a few pints. Have you seen the flowers tied to the lampost? Still, you're only 20 seconds away from A & E now aren't you?
Let's hope 67rob can bring 'Eleanor' then you will learn the meaning of the word LOUD!

Chris, the Ridgeway Tavern is really close to you (left along The Ridgeway from Chase Farm - no good for a PH meet though as the car park is too small). If you want a lift on the 16th email me rob@robstevens.biz with your mobile number, Rob.;)

As I was in the Enfield area today, I thought I would have a quick reccie of both the Plough and the Robin Hood pubs.
1. The Plough,Crews Hill, Cattlegate Road, Enfield.
Notes: Very friendly welcome, excellent seating ouside, 58 parking spaces, although this could be increased to about 65 spaces with intelligent parking, big beer garden, ankle biter area at the back of the car park, standard pub fare, but served in large portions, good hoon via Whitewebbs Lane and the landlord will reserve part of the pub for the PH group if needed. Entry to the pub is via two entrances/exits and a good view of the road allows for an easy approach.
Parking:
Beer Garden / Outside seating
The Pub
2. Robin Hood, The Ridgeway, Enfield.
Notes: Friendly welcome, no seating ouside, 55 parking spaces, although this could be increased to about 60 spaces with intelligent parking, big - although hidden from car park - beer garden, no ankle biter area, standard pub fare, good hoon from the Herts Ridgeway direction or via Whitewebbs. Car Park noisy as close to main road and scattered. Entry to the pub is via two entrances/exits.
Parking:
Beer Garden
The Pub:
I have spoken to both pub managers regarding our meeting. Both the Plough and the Hood have put a reserve marker in their book for the 16th of July. We need to make a decision which pub to go for as I will need to inform them by the 10th of July.
I for one like the Plough. It seemed very friendly, the parking is very good, there is a lot of space to mingle, part of the pub would be reserved for us if needed, the outside seating is extensive and in very good condition.
My choice would be the Plough, but as in all these matters democracy prevails.
Ladies and Gentlemen, pleasestart your engines state your preference.

You're not related to Gloria Hunniford are you?
Alas no, but the "sporting activities" I would have liked to have errr ... undertaken with Goldie Honeyport in her prime are definitely not for this forum.PS - How is the Strat? Fitted any good wipers recently?
Your Gloria Hunniford comment has conjured up some horrendous images in my fevered inagination! I won't be able to sleep for months!
As for the wiper. O.K yes.....it fell off...........in the middle of a rainstorm.....a mere trifle.
At least my car has a front grill that it can call its own.
Did the guy take the car btw?
May I humbly suggest that we either get the mods to change the title of this thread to include the date of the meet or, alternatively, start a new one with the details in the title?
Casual visitors to the London forum would not know from the title that this is a meet thread. There are only two and a half weeks to go and we have only 8 people this time.
Elliott.

1. Gloria. What can I say? I was young and foolish and young and .... ad infinitum.
2. The grill fairy called two days later and delivered .... a grill.
3. Yes, But I can have another built for you for you now that you are free of a certain educational burden, so to speak.
4. Son of LSU 534 is already specced!
