I was speaking to them last night, though the Dynorod Mini was but a footnote in a conversation about 5 Sierra Cosworths, a Delta Integrale, an Ultimate GTR, Audi Quattros and various other items of exotica.

It is a shame the Clio V6 and Metro 6R4 weren't on display, they were some of my favourite cars from 2010. I also thought the Porsches seemed relatively thin in the ground though the two red 964's were absolutely stunning.

How were the Porsches thin on the ground? Porsche club won the best display award and had the most cars there, plus chocolate crispy cakes in the gazebo! smile

On a plus, the lurid orange Mini sounded good, on the downside it hurt to look at it! Shame to hear it' often driven rather shamefully, would be a good car to see if it had a more considerate owner and was not dynorod orange.

Does anyone know what kind of Mini it was originally? I didn't get look in the back to see if it had a brace bar or not, was not sure if it was a modded up GP or a JCW.

There were plenty there but when I went to the show in 2010 there were masses of them. Loads of 964's too which was a real treat for me. It seemed like there weren't so many there this time, though I recall last in 2010 the Porsche stand was at the North West end of the ground and was the first one I visited so I probably spent a lot of time there! Overall though their cars were presented to a very high standard. The Ford RS stuff was looking very good too. Shame there were no Capris or Escort Cosworths on show but the Sierras and the mk2 Escort in red with the the rally decals looked ace.

It was a shame the Corvettes were out on the edge, they looked a tad forlorn but I still had a look round. There was that maroon red one with the tan interior. I am sure that is the one I mentioned in the 'spotted 2012' thread the other day.

Really? What a shame! I wonder if it was just some cackhander though, I can't imagine anyone paying to get into a show just to go and scratch some exotica. I saw that 8C again last night when I drove past the Benfield Alfa Romeo garage. I went to the garage to see the car in person when they got it in.

Yeah I see it every day on the way to work.

I think it was probably an accident, there were lots of people getting their photos taken next to it so someone probably just lent against it.

Yes people we like to show and share our cars with you, but please please be careful, both myself and friend were very upset to find my friends silver Max had been scratched too.
it realy makes you think twice about leaving them out in the open.

Dean thats terrible news, why go to a show to see cars and appreciate them and cause damage to one, if not more could well be the same person who has done that and the Alfa?

Mind you, I noticed that the Corvette stand was the only one that had displayed a notice saying the cars were not to be touched, just photographed and enjoyed. I suspect a few people probably just feel they've got a right to touch it because it's on show. I saw a few people grabbing at door handles and leaning on cars to get photographs while I was there and it did irritate me slightly. It would be a shame if Benfield Alfa/Nissan decided not to show their cars in future because of this.

Theirs a major difference between touching and physically scratching a car!

I did see four little scrotes running round trying door handles on all the cars.
From memory the green TVR, a purple one and a wedge got the treatment and a gold Merc
next to them at the bottom of the field.
I was sat in mine for a while listening to the F1 and they ran up to mine, suprising
how their attitude changed when they seen me in it, little t**ts.
I must admit some cars were close together, but it's no excuse, a bit of respect required.

Dave.

I did see a young lad bend over to peer into the black Ferrari and the wind caught his jacket, which clattered his (large) metal zip slider against the drivers side car door very hard. He looked very sheepish and zipped up his jacket to stop it happening again. frown

I've also spotted this coming out of Doxford International, then headed down A690 towards Durham - don't think it would be the same occasion though as I didn't spot you mate. It was a Sat afternoon about two months ago, IIRC.

I've had a busy couple of days and this is the first I've heard about damage etc, totally gutted, seems such a shame but If need be next year we might look into fencing certain car's off, A major gutter as one of my favourite things about Fastlane is that it gives people the opportunity to get up close and personal with car's that you wouldn't normally see but if its the only way we manage to continue to have the support of owners then so be it, end of the day no car's no show. Sadly as a lot of you know I've been on the receiving end of damage in the past so my heart truly goes out

If anyone comes along and decided's to start messing around in a dangerous manor at future event's reg's will be taken and the appropriate phone calls will be made. Sadly they are out there, 300 car's @ Fastlane 2012 and we had just 2 knacker's decided to start messing around in there car's, quite simple, they don't get back in next year.
