Hey all,

I am in the process of changing my runflats to none run flats (much cheaper, hate the ride/handling of the runflats/heard great things about changing). I have a bmw 320D btw.

I intend to buy the tyres online as they are about £30-£40 cheaper per corner than I can get locally. I am having some trouble finding s garage to fit them though. Half say they don't fit tyres they don't suply, and quite a few places say they won't fit none runflats, spouting some rubbish about them not fitting the alloys properly..

Does anyone have a suggestion of where to try in the north east? Thanks in advance guys!

Speak to Greg at Grande Tyres Fastfix on Whickham Bank. Fantastic tyre fitter who takes great care of your wheels, torques them up properly by hand and you usually get a brew while you wait too.

He's been competitive or cheaper than online for most stuff when I've asked and has also fitted track tyres that I've supplied too. Most importantly, I've never heard a bad thing back from anyone I've recommended to go there!

Seconded for Grande Tyres Whickham, will not take my car anywhere else, always do a brilliant job, no air guns, take old weights off etc.

Repaired my runflat when most would'nt touch them, even with an email from Bridgestone saying they can be repaired.

You can lead a horse to water and all that.

Touché.

The specialist Indy was just round the corner from my work though, which meant I could have it done while at work. While I appreciated the advice from above, whickham was just a bit too far for me on this occasion. I needed them done ASAP as one tyre was bobbled/mishapen quite badly.

Foxhunters at Whitley Bay did mine. Excellent, know what they're doing and look after your alloys.

Try the old "I bought this car, last week and the owner threw in these 4 tyres, how would much do you charge to fit them?" trick.

I fitted none run flats to a MINI and the independent met the price of the internet, and was happy to fit them. He also fitted the best run flat (the one that had some tread) to a spare that I'd found on ebay. (It fills the boot and stays in the garage)
