Chaps and chapesses, I'm looking for a decent but normal mechanic to do some run of the mill repairs to my car. No brand specialists necessary, just someone trustworthy, ideally in or around Gateshead. Any recommendations?

Cheers Sean. I've got a BMW specialist for servicing etc. but he's a little pricey for generic stuff. I just want someone genuine and local who can do the normal stuff like changing discs and pad etc. without emptying my wallet.

Great North Tyres by the Tyne Bridge (behind the Bingo place) are decent. Honest and reasonable rates.

I've also used Keith at Cruise Motor Services in Dunston. More or less a one man band but again very decent.

DW Motorworks in Winlaton Mill are very good. He'd take good care of your Beemer too.

AK Automotive in Rowlands Gill: http://www.akautomotive-mx5.co.uk

Had an issue with the bleed value on a rear calliper, they ordered a new part before trying to fix it in case it snapped off. They managed to fix the old part rather than fitted new one - not many places would have done that!
