B6277 from Alston to Middleton-in-Teesdale is running a lot of one lane roadworks for the next few weeks. I'll need to amend the route which is a right bugger as that's one of my favourite stretches of road anywhere.
Aww man, that really is a shame, genuinely one of the best roads in the North East, and personally, I think I prefer it over the A686 at times. You could consider the A689 going past Kilhope then hop off and take road to Hexham via Allendale. Depends where you want to end up though. From there you could use the roads around Blanchland / Edmunbyers / Stanhope. Just a suggestion fella.
Bit of misinformation, I was told it's going to be closed which it is at the end of March for two weeks but I've looked into it and (hopefully) isn't too bad. Looks like part is reduced to one lane due to the bad recent weather causing a landslide next to it. I've emailed Durham County Council to find out exactly where on the road it is and how long the one lane lasts. If it's only a short distance we should be OK
