I might need some parts from ripspeed, but unsure what will fit. I need a universal air filter that'll fit a 88mm diameter solid intake pipe.

I can pop into the store if your working Monday.

maccess do a universal cone filter for around 15 quid in chrome, stainless or carbon fibre finish. Maccess are wholesale suppliers and you need an account to get in but the stuff is usually really cheap.

You still got your SJ? My mate just bought a 413 for some offroad fun (nothing serious - yet). Just wondering how tough they are or whether its likely to drop bits left right and centre.

He has decided that using his Grand Cherokee for offroad might not be the best idea as it could be expensive. We went ot a local pay to play - only ones there with leather, aircon and a mobile phone holder - they had snorkels etc. His face was a picture

I sold the SJ, but wished I kept it to be honest.

If you want really hard core off roading, the suzuki is just the job. Stick some mud terrian tyres on it and it'll go anywhere.

For really tough off-roading, it's also best to take off the front bumper. The fuel filter is bolted to the chassis rail next to the tank, take it out and replace it with a piece of pipe, then put a universal see-through plastic fuel filter in the engine bay, just before the carb. That way, you can keep an eye on how dirty the filter gets and it's a doddle to change.

If you need a hand with it, just let me know.

Also check out www.NE4x4.org.uk, they do off-roading at least once a month at Hetton/Murton Quarry.

Thats where we went in the Cherokee. Still a good laugh but I think they thought we were a bit mad .

The SJ is I'm told not in bad shape but I haven't seen it yet. I guess we'll find out the first time it gets dirty

Nice photo- must get a copy of the one of the Cherokee stuck in the quarry

byff - just got your message now, I was away for the weekend at the gf's place. I'm in tomorrow but semi's right, maccess rip the arse out of our prices!

The best option we can do excluding the ripspeed universal cotton filters (which I think are the same as the maccess ones) is a universal carbon kit. Very similar in design to a BMC carbon airbox, it's a universal cotton filter with a 70mm inlet and outlet. It comes with piping and so on, all you need to buy on top is a k&n cleaner kit for the filter oil.

I'm in from 9am if you fancy popping up, just look for the tall ginger lad with "dave" on the namebadge!!

Cheers Dave.

I was in today, just on the off-chance you would be in. The lad there has recommended pipercross (I think) PK007F's as they have a 90mm inlet hole.

Only trouble is, he'd have to order it in and really, I wanted one to test fit.

I'm going to measure up and check it'll fit, then i'll pop in and order it, assuming I don't find anyone with a maccess account.

more bad news

Pal at work came in today to pick up some tools and said that as maccess is a trade only place, there is a spend limit (must be about £50) but ill still try to get in on mon anyway . They do have pipercross venom kits in but I think these are Model specific (saxo, clio etc) watch this post on Mon night

Is that a spend limit per customer or per account. I could always come with you

Seems a bit strange having a spend limit, are you sure it's not a minimum spend limit? I'll probably be over £50 as I need two of them.

Mail me if there's any way I can get my hands on a catalogue or a visit to see what they have.

Cheers
