Thanks Alistair for organising, another great morning with some superb motors. As requested, here's a link to a few photos http://www.flickr.com/photos/lawrenceclift/sets/72... and the quadcopter footage http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CKy_G_FuPrs

I was chatting to him when someone came over and said the police will be calling him due to people racing past the base and lots of complaints.
Obviously it's nothing to do with him as it's a public road, but things like that reinforce not wanting to bother.
I can totally understand that, it's a shame when the minority have to spoilt it

It's moments like that which make it a total ball ache. My mobile was in my car whilst I was chatting to you. When I got back to my unit, I had 7 missed calls and 3 voicemails relating to people who had been to the event, driving like idiots on the main road back to the A41.
I've not had any further feedback from the Museum about these incidents but it's like a big kick in the bo11ocks after you've had a really great morning, sadly ruined by a very small minority.

That's ste Coxy frown Over the last couple of yrs 3 or 4 great local car events have been closed down thanks to police pressure following the behaviour of morons.

You put on a great gathering and if it doesn't run in 2014 I'll miss it hugely, although I'll understand your position. I hope you & the team at Cosford are able to find a way to keep the event alive.

The only way it would work is invite only, but that obviously creates even more work/organisation.
Maybe get a few volunteers to help? Id certainly be willing to help in some way.
Closed/private group on Facebook would keep the idiots way.

Or another idea could be a batch of membership cards with everyone paying a couple of quid for theirs to help fund them.
Then on the day, no card no entry. Althought that could be hard to police as the public come too...hmmm not easy really

My 'other' biggest issue is the grief I actually get off the Museum staff on the day for parking/driving etc etc.

They are the ones who make money during these events, not me. It costs me to put it on and I've never done it to get anything from it. That was never the idea, but to have security staff point the finger at me, and standing there doing nothing when the museum makes four figures through revenue on the day (car park, catering, additional revenue made through 400-500 extra visitors) is a kick in the teeth. It would be nice for them to actually take a bit more of an interest. It took me 18 months to get 1 additional member of security on a Sunday.

They've come to me about people who sped off down the main straight runway down past the Cold War Museum many a time, yet I see them standing in the doorway of said building doing nothing other than wagging there fingers and shaking their radio's. I've given them a few solutions on how to stop it yet they tend not to listen.

They did come back once and told me they had a great idea of putting cones either side (which basically made a chicane!).

"this will slow them down" he said.......

"you think?!!......." as we both watch 2 Lotus Exiges exit rather briskly snaking down the runway!!

"yep....that worked!"

Coxy, I hope you haven't been too discouraged by the few selfish individuals whose behaviour led to some compliants about them leaving at the last event of 2013? The MBC has always been a great gathering and as it has become less frequent, I guess the majority of those who attend regularly appreciate it even more and the range of cars that attends never ceases to amaze me - several of the guys I have met and driven over with, have come from the East Mids which demonstrates its appeal and the surroundings of the museum.

I hope the recent events don't discourage you and perhaps the ideas of a members club event might help although how you would be able to tell who drives like an a**e leaving is something else? Perhaps if a few like-minded individuals were to offer help to assist you organise it might make it easier for you, and even maybe some sponsorship by a like minded company or two might help? idea

Let's hope the Fun Police don't ruin another great event nono
