times are from 09:00 till midday ish.

People do start turning up between 08:30 and 08:45, but please don't get there before that as I look like a right lazy sod when I get there and a dozen people are already parked up!!!!

The cafe in the main entrance to the Museum opens up from 9am and serves bacon and/or sausage gaps, tea, coffee and hash browns!

I was chatting to him when someone came over and said the police will be calling him due to people racing past the base and lots of complaints.
Obviously it's nothing to do with him as it's a public road, but things like that reinforce not wanting to bother.
I can totally understand that, it's a shame when the minority have to spoilt it
It's moments like that which make it a total ball ache. My mobile was in my car whilst I was chatting to you. When I got back to my unit, I had 7 missed calls and 3 voicemails relating to people who had been to the event, driving like idiots on the main road back to the A41.
I've not had any further feedback from the Museum about these incidents but it's like a big kick in the bo11ocks after you've had a really great morning, sadly ruined by a very small minority.

My 'other' biggest issue is the grief I actually get off the Museum staff on the day for parking/driving etc etc.

They are the ones who make money during these events, not me. It costs me to put it on and I've never done it to get anything from it. That was never the idea, but to have security staff point the finger at me, and standing there doing nothing when the museum makes four figures through revenue on the day (car park, catering, additional revenue made through 400-500 extra visitors) is a kick in the teeth. It would be nice for them to actually take a bit more of an interest. It took me 18 months to get 1 additional member of security on a Sunday.

They've come to me about people who sped off down the main straight runway down past the Cold War Museum many a time, yet I see them standing in the doorway of said building doing nothing other than wagging there fingers and shaking their radio's. I've given them a few solutions on how to stop it yet they tend not to listen.

They did come back once and told me they had a great idea of putting cones either side (which basically made a chicane!).

"this will slow them down" he said.......

"you think?!!......." as we both watch 2 Lotus Exiges exit rather briskly snaking down the runway!!

"yep....that worked!"
