What a strange thing to say!

Sadly I think some people think only those of us fortunate enough to have "sports/Classics" should be allowed to attend.

To me, what hes saying is: Its difficult to hold a car event / show without attracting car enthusiasts / owners ??? How would that work then ???

Just have a field full of random people who drive, with their cars and talk about the weather ???

Hello all, I'm new in this bit

Interesting thread; IMO if you want to properly segregate then you have to have entry criteria. Age, Production numbers, Value, Marques, no modding etc.

Giving the event the right title works well to do that segregation without much policing. Something called "Motorised carriages Mondays" is going to get a very different set of folks from "Tuners Tuesdays". Branding.

I think it should be left alone. Good meet, good cars, nice people.

Correct me if I am wrong................
But I think the original meets where called Griffins Head Classic Car Meet?.

Now IMO the cars that "should" attend should be just that and not the " Fast & Furious" cars that seem to be popping up more..............

Now not saying that the drivers of these cars are all the same but a few passed me on the way home and their driving style could give the meet a bad reputation or even being stopped.
Plus the more modern cars that attend are making parking more difficult for the classic cars.

I agree we all share a passion for motoring but perhaps these cars should be either be asked to park in the pub car park or in a "segregrated area" for such cars eg.......down the edge where they used to park.

I have attended both Wednesday events and find that there are more moderns on the 2nd Wednesday............so perhaps they should have this as their night?.

Just my thoughts.......

There are some newer cars that turn up that are interesting but not "Classic" or "Fast & Furious" so I suppose its a bit of a grey area.

If we're saying its Classic only from now on I'm out as I don't own a classic anymore.

Again I think we just leave it as it is.

I didn't stay too long on Wednesday but I was there long enough to see a broad range of 'interesting' cars. Some of which weren't really my thing but I appreciated them all and thought it made for a better meet.

Everybody that goes to have a look or show off their cars are all like minded enthusiasts whether they're driving a Spitfire or Subaru.

I'd sooner see a full field of cars with lots of people rather then a few cars that are roughly the same.

Full field last night, nice to see very little in the way of shopping trollies in the field, most being in the pub car park or parked on the side of the road.

Believe me, i would love to. Apparently the dealer cant agree the arrangement with Lotus themselves, so whilst the demo car has been there for some months, it can't leave the showroom rolleyes

They keep telling me it will be sorted in a few weeks, but it seems it never is!

I'll keep chasing mate, & let you know biggrin

It was mad tonight in lots of ways and will probably be my last visit for a while, Maybe I'm getting old or too fussy but for me it has lost most of its appeal.

For me it has changed from a classic/sportscar meet to a general free for all, far too many shopping trolleys on the field ( alot of which had for sale signs on ) and lots of little cliques of club members ( sorry I never did get the stretched tyres scene)

Yes the turnout was excellent but sadly I preferd when as you entered the field you were asked not to rev too much to avoid upsetting the locals and when day to day cars parked off the field.

Having walked about and not been impressed particularly by the Granada Scorpio, Pug 205 zest, and various other daily runabouts parked in the middle of the field, The final couple of straws for me were seeing someone set up a table at the back of the car to start selling stuff and when the Aventador convoy arrived and people were too busy admiring the scoobies to notice.

As i said all IMHO ( Yes Im a mid 40's old git )

1st time & thoroughly enjoyed the variety of petrol headedness, good to catch up with some not so old friends & surprised how civilised everyone was, not 'chavy' at all

Shame about the mile of speed bumps just down the road (left out of exit) though
