Just to remind everyone in the East Midlands that the Griffins Head Pub Classic and Sports Car meet in Papplewick, Nottingham restarts next Wednesday (7th May).

This has in the past been a very popular meet so it's always best to get there early evening if possible because it does tend to get rather busy with over 120 cars attending, and possibly more this year if they don't put up a gigantic tent in the field!!!

To anyone who hasn't attended before, the meet is the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the spring/summer months and is attended by a wide selection of classic and sports cars, from Minis, Morris Minor, Allegro, Jaguar, through to supercars from Ferrari, Maserati and even the occasional Lamborghini (had an Aventador show up last year!) to name but a few, plus sporty stuff from TVR, Porsche, BMW, DeLorean, Alfa, Mercedes, Ford, and even one or two bubble cars.

Contact details and address: The Griffins Head | Moor Road, Papplewick, Nottingham NG15 8EN | Tel: 01159 633672

Have enclosed a few thumbnail pics I took from the last meeting in September 2013.

Hi, anyone know if this still runs at this time of year (i.e this Weds 3rd Sept) or is August the end of it until next year?

Yes the meeting is still on for this coming Wednesday the 3rd September and also for Wed the 17th September, basically it's the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month. Not sure about October, I guess that will be down to how good or bad the weather is!

Please find enclosed a few low resolution pics I took in August.

Wow, what a fantastic evening even though the sun didn't shine. I arrived at just after 6.30pm tonight only to discover that the field was nearly full so had to park on the far side.

And what a stunning mixed selection of cars attended, with everything from a Reliant Robin with motorbike strapped on back (for city commuting?) to some monster V8 kit from the USA, along with everything else under the bonnet and even one or two kit cars.

Have enclosed a few pics of tonight's event which was fantastic considering the drab weather - though thankfully the rain stayed away!

Once again the Griffins Head Pub landlord has done us proud - so thank you.

Next Griffins Head classic and sportscar meet is Wednesday 17th September...

Not sure where the Griffins Head Pub is in Nottinghamshire, well here's the address and contact details: The Griffins Head, Moor Road, Papplewick, Nottingham NG15 8EN - Tel: 01159 633672

Last night's meet was probably one of the best attended for the year which was quite astonishing considering the abysmal weather to date - where the hell has the hot summer sunshine gone!

And sorry to hear you lost your keys, I spoke to the landlord at the Griffins Head earlier today who said he's going to have a look around the field for them. If he finds anything I will post it on here.

Thanks for that, I'd already left my number with them and although they have had a good look around they were no where to be found so I'm off to relieve myself of some cash tomorrow to replace them frown

That's a shame. Just a thought, but I'm guessing your keys were well and truly compacted into the soil from all the cars driving on and off the field, so wonder whether it might be worth your while laying your hands on a metal detector for a few hours, hey you might even find some gold coins!

didnt have the time for that (off on holiday tonight) but all sorted by 3D auto keys, really good service and reasonably priced (as much as they can be compared to others, but still seems expencive for 10mins work!)
