Ello

I was proceeding along the A45 last night, and went through the above camera, I was slightly over 50 IIRC but not enough to set it off - I rarely exceed the speed limit (especially because as a contractor, I need my licence intact to get to work!).

There was no flash, but the sun was behind me at the time at that nasty blinding sopt frown

There was however, a siren that went off as I passed through, only a few seconds worth.

J thinks it was in the background of the radio, but my head says that this is far too much of a coincidence.

Any thoughts please?

Don't take my word for it but I have a feeling those ones have been off for a while, though you hear rumours of them being switched back on.. some of them had those orange "camera not in use" bags over them for a while. Never heard of cameras with sirens either.
You'll have to let us know if you do get anything.
Try not to worry about it, what's done is done wink

Some of them are turned off with bags on, some with out, some still working ( others burnout/egged/sprayed/shot at )

Wait and see

There was a radio ad going around with a siren in it a few weeks ago that had me looking for blue lights (trying to get out of the way rather than feeling guilty wink)
Shouldn't be allowed irked

There's only Truvelo (forward facing ) on the Ryton stretch (A46 -M45) so you'd see a magenta flash in your face.

There used to be on both sides didn't there? 2 eastbound (going towards the M45), and 2 westbound (away from the M45, one before and one after the old Peugeot works)?

Think that is correct ,as it's some time since I was down there . There was also an extra one , heading from M45 direction just before A423 junction . This was prompted by the problems at the A45/Woolston lane to A445 Junction ,which was a basic crossover .Since the roundabout the problems have been resolved and the reason for the cameras removed, but the cameras still stay despite a lot of protests ( See ABD Warks page).

Going M45 towards Coventry, the speed camera by the roundabout A45/Wolston Lane is very definitely out of commission. There is one further on (forward facing) before the old Peugeot plant, and one just past (by the fly over). I wouldn't take any risks on either.

Going toward the M45, there are the current av speed cameras on the road works, then two within quarter of a mile of each other going past Ryton village. All very locked down, but there are multiple examples of dickish driving there, so probably justified. One, that's remerged, is just around the corner coming out of Coventry. That catches out the aggressive driving tourist... ;-)

Last time I was on the stretch from Tollbar to Kenelworth bypass, the two Gatso's had been bagged off. But one of them had been the subject of the flash lens being covered up on a regular basis.

I'll find out when I get back to the UK I guess. :|

This was on A45 in Ryton, going towards the M45, there are 2 close together heading towards the traffic island for the Leamington turn one on the bend opposite the Post Office in the side road (which is the one that I heard the siren at) the other is just before the island.

if it's a truvelo ,you'd have noticed the Magenta flash in your face. Colleague of mine tells me that it is quite bright. But no sirens.

No flash, but then the sun was at that horrid angle

It was the siren that threw me; never heard of it!

scratchchin

I've one were to acquire such a device commonly known as an FM Transmitter and with said device proceed to broadcast over common frequencies, sounds similar to those emitted from official police vehicles during emergency response activities.. smile

I think they have just enough range to get the car next to you.
