Living in/nr Telford
Discussion
Right chaps, firstly mods please move this if Telford doesn't come under the Midlands sub section! ?
Thinking of moving to Telford or nearby, the job would potentially be in South Telford and I like to cycle to work so upto 10 miles from there is fine.
Any advice/ideas on where would be good or what it's like round there?

North Telford / Newport would be a good start, depends on budget and what sort of property you are looking for, need to worry about schools?
We live in Muxton and love it here, but would consider a move to slightly more rural by Newport.
There are areas to avoid, but the low property prices would give it away.

I'm quite keen on Albrighton myself but maybe it's a tad close to Wolverhampton for some.
It's an option I would consider if I still worked around there.
Albrighton is good, it is close to the Good side of Wolves, + it has a good train station, pubs, shops and close to J3 M54. It's an option I would consider if I still worked around there.
Op you could also look at Shifnal and Sheriffhales which are good areas
Nice one chaps.
I rent and am on my jack so no particular needs but a garage is a must for my Capri, a nice quiet safe area is good, out in the country is fine and I wouldn't want to be stuck in massive traffic jams if I were to drive to work.
The workplace if it happens would be on one of the big industrial estates that look in the southern bit of Yelford I think.
Hadn't really looked north of Telford tbh as had presumed having to get past the centre to get to work would be a bind and maybe by bike would be easier coming from the south but I've literally been there once for an hour so have no idea.

We moved to west Telford 11 years ago and are/have been VERY happy with our home and location.
Some great pubs/restaurants locally which is a bonus and M54 access @ Junction 6 makes commuting easier.
Plenty of properties for sale and the free local paper (Telford Journal) has listings from most estate agents.

I'm renting myself, what sort of areas would West telford include?
On a different note, any cheap under cover car storage places down there as wouldn't need a garage then.
Lawley Village/TF4(where we are) and Horsehay are on the 'edge' of Telford. On a different note, any cheap under cover car storage places down there as wouldn't need a garage then.
Muxton is very nice area as well as Admaston/Bratton/Wrockwardine.
Plenty of houses with garages in these areas.
If any use I would be happy to post you our copy of the Telford Journal Property pages?
I work next to Telford station, a long journey into work is 10 mins instead of 7.
People will moan about Telford being a new town but the north/south links are good, you can pretty much get anywhere in Telford to anywhere else in Telford in under 20 mins
If you want to make cycling easier to south Telford then staying south of the ridge that goes across the top of Priorslee/st Georges might've best. But for recreational cycling there is the silkin way from north to south, and lots of green spaces.

If you move this way (or even if you don't) it would be great to see you and your Capri at the monthly meet here:

Nice one chaps, Bebee will definitely be down for the first one of those after I move which seems pretty likely now.
Ironbridge looks lovely but not dripping in rental properties at the mo.
Bridgnorth is on the list now too as sounds nice and about 10 miles from the dealership I'm looking at so a pretty decent commute through the country and not so hard to drive if the weather's gash.

Another Telford/Shrewsbury PH'er here!
There's lots of nice villages between Telford and Shrewsbury that I would suggest checking out, like Little Wenlock, Roddington, Withington, Wrockwardine, Buildwas etc. If you're on the Shrewsbury side it offers you the best of both worlds as eating out, pubs and nightlife in Shrewsbury is great.

Right chaps, job confirmed today so need to take the plunge now.
Will be working for Travel world Motorhomes on Halesfield so I think Shifnal is the place I want to be.
Had a quick look about and a pint there on way back and looks a nice wee town and an easy 4 mile cycle to work.
Have put my name on a house there if the current tenants can get shifted quickly enough, got lucky as its not even on the market yet so if all goes to plan should be a Shropshire resident in 2-3 weeks and will defo pop along to a meet.
Any suggestions forca good gym round there or Telford, bigger the better as I hate busy gyms?
