f you are over 18, live in West Midlands Force area, available between 17th and 21st of November and want to come out on patrol then email

jonathan(dot)butler(at)west-midlands.police.pnn.uk

Obviously you have make changes to the bits in brackets in the above address.

State in no more than 100 words what you want to tackle, where and why you should patrol. If chosen you will set the theme of the day.

Good luck PHers.

I'd love to go but I must admit, I'd struggle to find ten words on what I'd want to tackle, where and why I should patrol.

It's like being asked to predict the way the day will go.

Sounds like a job for a grass with inside info on a forth coming bank job. shoot

Well the main themes for the week are speeding, drink driving, seat belt offences, mobile phones.

So think up something else. There's just been a blitz on foreign vehicles with Operation Trivium.

How about lighting offences with dark nights coming up?

Red light runners! This is becoming so common it frightening.

I'm happy for someone else to use that one.

It'd have to be a week when a) I'm in Cambridge for work for a week b) I live in east Midlands anyway.
Do you know if any of the forces this way are likely to do similar?

Sorry I don't. West Mercia aren't afaik but wrong side for you.

All sorts of places are doing events. North Yorkshire are doing something on the "Look out for each other" element.

Suggest you have a search on #RoadSafetyWeek on ttter.

Sorry not to be more help. Best Rgds

By the way red light runners, good shout there. Have a field day in Birmingham and :cough: certain parts with that one.

Don't think it's illegal, but I'd like to see the people that cut me up every day in rush hour traffic at roundabouts given a stern warning, just because they seem to think they don't need to wait like everybody else !!!

Not keeping left when not overtaking. The thousands of hours wasted.

Surely drink driving is most deserving of policing?

This, especially at peak times, if there were less middle lane morons there'd be less congestion.

What happened to light offences, or is that just kept for the 12 days of Xmas to keep specials happy?
Or is it another offence waiting for a course to be developed for local "?safety" groups to cash in on .
