The big changes for us from Devon are that it's very flat round here and everything is so close together.
And the lack of sea wink
Ah yes, I'd forgotten about the sea. Before we moved up I spent five and a half years commuting from Exeter to Warwick on a weekly basis. As a result, the though of jumping in a car to go to the beach at weekends wasn't that appealing, especially in the summer when the beach was full of grockles. We did it on occasion, as the dog loved it there, but I grew to resent it rather than enjoy it as time went by.
I'm a 5 minute cycle (15 min walk) to the sea from where I am currently. I prefer it in the Winter when it's 'mine' again and don't normally go down during the Summer but Lou goes swimming nearly every day in the sea so that's a big consideration for us.
Draycott Water is only about 20 minutes east of us, just below Rugby. They have water sports and fishing, so I'd imagine swimming would be allowed.

Off topic, I see you have a Z4 and used to have a Boxster S. How do they compare? I nearly bought a Z4 before I got my Boxster S.

Got rid of the Z4 now but in basic terms the difference is that the Boxster is a wonderfully fluid, well balanced sports car and the Z4 is more cruiser (although in 35 guise it can shift). I found the frond end too floaty in the Z4 under heavy acceleration and did not like the long bonnet when going over crests as you could not see what was over the other side until you were there!!

I'll be heading back to Porsche territory this year probably.

Looks like I made the right choice then. Thanks.

Most definitely if you like a dynamic sports car! Which Boxster do you have?

Edit - turbo conversion - sounds interesting!!!!

The folks lived in Horninghold for quite a while, the Langtons road from Kibworth, through Cranoe to Hallaton is/was brilliant.

Lovely countryside, as someone else has said, it's the nicest part of Leicestershire although I like some of the villages out of Ansty around Bradgate Park too.

I live in Mickleover, Derbyshire and it's a pretty good place to live. Close to Derby, motorways M1, M6 and countryside!

Ninth best postcode in the country don't you know cool

So that's what happens once I move out of somewhere.

Trip 2 happening this weekend.

Going to visit Kibworth, Stamford, Rothey, Quorn and Woodhouse Eaves this time if we have time. Will do slightly further north on our next run.

Staying at the Marquess of Exeter in Lyddington on Saturday and will definitely be ready for a drink and some food I should imagine.

Are you visiting Kibworth Harcourt or Kibworth Beauchamp (pronounced Beecham!)? They are almst joing togther so its really a pedantic question.

If you're going to Quorn you're close to where I work. If you are heading to Quorn from Kibworth make sure you go in via Queniborough and also if you can have a look at Ashby Folville - both lovely villages and very different to each other.

The Food at the Marquess of Exeter is good, we used to east there occasionally, and its a nice place to stay.

Good hunting

Only just seen this.

I'm in Kibworth Harcourt and love it. Kibworth Beauchamp is great too and that's where the local shops are. Smeeton is pretty too. Foxton & Gumley would have been worth a look too.
