We're moving into a 6 month rental next Tuesday (complete our sale on the 8th) in Poole, and I guess we'll do our first trip up over the weekend of either 10th or 17th Jan.

Would the Local paper be of interest to you ? If so I could send it to you.

Not given it much thought but I guess the more background information the better.

If you want to send down, that would be great. Otherwise just let me know the names and I'm sure I'll be able to find online versions (assuming they have them).

Thanks so much for the offer!

But you've not had the housewarming yet! laugh

Right distance from HW, little further from WY, but you'd like Kenilworth & Knowle; lots of pubs & walks. Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Leamington Spa & Solihull all within 20 mins for shopping.

If you come to explore Northamptonshire, let us know for drink

Thanks Daphne - I'll take a look online and if I can't find it I'll send you my address for hard copy.

This is why I still love the PH community.

Parents live in Rutland.
I used to live in Wokingham, which is nice but full of London commuters and so bloody expensive.
I now live just outside Solihull (Knowle direction).

Rutland is lovely but it's a bit in the sticks, I really enjoy where we are because it feels countryside-y and is a lovely place to be, but is nice and close to motorways so (for example) a booze run to France isn't an impossibility.

Most places in Rutland aren't too far from the A1 and then its straight down south to the m25 so a trip for booze isnt out of the question. Personally I cant abide having neighbours and urban sprawl and so a rural life is great, each to their own I suppose.

I'm in a similar situation. I live in Kibworth Harcourt, it's on the A6 between Leicester and Market Harborough. It has excellent facilities including a good co-op, post office, great book shop, deli and couple of very nice restaurants. It's a 20 minute drive in to Leicester and 15 mins to the M1 & A14.

Just the right balance of village life and living in a rural community. Been here nearly 3 years, it's the nicest place I've lived since I left home. biggrin

Lived in Kibworth for 5 years and agree its got a lot going for it, now in Rutland living 5 minutes away from the A1. Both great places to live, little crime, decent schools etc.

We were to come up this weekend but I'm seeing snow in forecast. Can anyone with local knowledge confirm if this is true? I think to be safe we'll put the first trip back a week but if someone knows it's going to be 78 in the sun up there, well I think we'll be on our way smile

Yeah, local forecast says snow, but the most I've seen here in 2 years is a light frosting

I'll keep an eye on it
