Lived in Braunston for 5 years, very pretty but a bit of a retirement zone to be honest and with the arrival of the kids we needed a bigger house plus more garden. Moved to Market Overton - nice little pub and village shop, local cricket club and a lot of 30/40 something parents with children. Always things going on and very happy here. A1 is 5 minutes away, Stamford 15 minutes away which is a great place for eating and drinking - couldn't recommend this village highly enough

It's about an 7-8 hour round trip so were going to spend whole weekend up there. Think delaying for a week or so seems a wise decision.

Thanks for the updates.

I just don't want to take the risk of getting caught and not being able to get back for Monday seeing as we were going to spend all Saturday and Sunday up there. We're in no rush so think it's just best all round to delay a week or so.

Long lunch now booked for Saturday in Poole!!

Have a lovely weekend everyone biggrin

MArket Harborough is a lovely little town.

We moved here 18 years ago from the North west and now, having got the kitchen and garage we want, we are heading off to South Wales for a new challenge.

Harbough is roughly equidistant between Leicester and Northampton. The train jourmey to London is now just an hour so we are seeing some Lndon commuters coming in which is beginning to drive up house prices.

Harborough has many boutique shops and many eateries. Its conveniently located between the M1/M6 meeting point and the A1, and the A14 is just a few miles away so getting East-West is a doddle.

Definitely worth an hoir or so wanderinr around to geta feel for the place.

Good luck and let me know if I can help with information.

I know of a lovely 3 bed house for sale with a 4 car garage and a large and well specced kitchen plus large garden wink

Agree with all of the above but Kibworth is better. biggrin

Joking aside. The whole of the Harborough District is in my view the best of Leicestershire and I've lived in 2 other areas of the county. Wherever you end up in this district you won't be disappointed.

As for eateries in Harbs. The best places are; Venetos, Ascoughs, Golden Orchid & The Red Lion at Great Bowden which is just outside Harborough.

The Ice Bar cafe in the summer for their awesome Ice Cream. biggrin

Venetos is our regular Friday night meal with friends - Can't be beaten for value and lovely fresh cooked Italian food.

Ascoughs - over rated and over priced IMHO

Golden Orchid - not been there for years but always empty.

Red Lion - I've never been but will give it a try.

Tried Wildowood recently and that was pretty good. the staff are very easy on the eye too.

There are a few good pubs in the nearby villages that do really good food. The Old Barn at Glooston used to be brilliant although not been for a while.

Personally I think Rutland Water is a bit meh.
