Hi All,

I've been thinking about this for a while now and although it's possibly a reticular recognition/activation thing; I'm thinking there are quite a few special cars around Leicester/Leicestershire. In the space of a week I've spotted a blue TVR Tuscan, a creamy white Morgan, a Mustang (Non Fastback - 1968ish?), Orange Lotus Exige, 3 Audi R8's, a white Ferrari 458, a light blue Ferrari 360 spyder, a Maserati Gran Turismo, a blue VW Golf R32 and numerous Porsches...you get the idea!

Whilst I appreciate that there are evening events around the Midlands at different times of the month and Shelsley Walsh have their Breakfast Club and Carcodes Cosford should be starting at some point, I'm thinking of arranging a Sunday Morning 'PH Sunday Service style' park up and chat about cars meet that's closer to Leicester. I'd try to make it so there weren't any clashes with existing events so that if people were free they could head down. The place that I'm thinking of also has a cafe nearby that'll open at 10am but the location would probably involve paying for parking...so I'm expecting lots of interest tumbleweed

However, I'd like to gauge numbers; so what do you reckon, would you be interested in such a meet? Like I say, just exploring ideas to see if it could be done.

Cheers,
Sharky

I think it's a great idea but you will be competing with the likes of Car Café in north Nottingham - 1st Saturday morning of each month through the summer with free parking and catering.

Many thanks for the replies people.

Although I see it as getting more opportunities to go to Car Meets rather than competition, the Car Cafe does seem really well done and I've been meaning to get to the Car Cafe but haven't been able to get to one yet; fair point regarding the parking and catering too. In addition to this the Car Cafe seems well located for the Derbys./Notts/Leics area.

In summation, if more people do fancy a more local to Leicester/Leicestershire meet on a Sunday morning, this thread is here to chime in on and I'll take a look at the possibility sorting one.

Cheers,
Sharky

I would possibly drive over from Stoke. I have only been a couple of Cosford meets in the past but they were good

My car is currently having some work done to it, so fingers crossed, I'll get it back in a few weeks; if you guys are up for it then and there are no other meets on, I'll post a date and venue!

Could the Mods move this thread to the Events area of the forum to see if it could build some traction please???

Cheers,

Finally, I have my car back bounce

I realise that it's the Cholmondeley Pageant of Power this weekend up in Cheshire, however, if anyone's not going to that and up for a meet this Sunday morning in Leicestershire I'm planning to take my car to an as yet undisclosed public location and invite anyone who'd like to join me just walk around and look at fellow enthusiast's cars.

As mentioned before the parking does cost; £4 for an all day ticket but there is a stunning country park there (locals may already have figured where I'm talking about), and there is a cafe nearby open from 9am (14th June).

I KNOW there are some amazing cars around people! I've seen things ranging from an early 1960's Porsche, an R8, a new BMW M5 and M4, a Caterham, and a C/D reg Fiesta XR2i, all since last Saturday! smile

If interested please respond to this and I'll put an address/postcode towards the latter end of this week!

Cheers,
Sharky
p.s. will post in the events section too, just in case!

Okey cokey, the location is Bradgate Park in Leicestershire.

The address to go to is the Newtown Linford car park LE6 0HB – the main car park.

All car marques welcome, regardless of age or condition!

I'd suggest parking in the area on the right after you drive over the bridge into the car park so as to let regular users/dog walkers get the places nearer to the main gate.

If anyone's never been, the cafe is outside the car park opposite the village church and public toilets are located near the entrance of the car park.

See you Sunday 9am, rain or shine, though the forecast look promising! smile

N.B. Police have been made aware of this informal event so please respect the speed limits as you approach the village.

I've been on the phone to the Estates Office in Bradgate Park; on a Sunday morning the Newtown Linford car park that I planned for is full due to people running.

So, although there isn't a cafe/toilet nearby we can use the Old John car park (LE6 OAH for SatNav). It is only 5 mins drive from the cafe and public toilet in Newtown Linford.

Car parking fees still apply and looks like it may still be raining between 9am and 11am tomorrow!

However, I'm still planning to go down, see you there if you want to brave the weather smile

How did it go? I couldn't make it due to a high consumption of beer on the Saturday.

No worries chap!

At 9am, there were a lot of spaces in the car park and the weather was glorious, contrary to what the weather could have been!

Sadly in terms of attendance I didn't see anybody; however I had a brilliant two hours in a sun-drenched Bradgate Park, so there's always an upside smile
