Our local free sheet seems a tad vexed at a semi regular (Sat & Sun) nocturnal car meet on the Tesco car park.

Much wailing and gnashing of teeth about noise, screaming tyres and "some one will be killed"

Anyone ever been to this?

I only live a few miles away so I might drop in one evening for a nose.

We definitely can't compete with anything we have around the midlands, a ltd editon corsa ( no.23874392 ) drifting on mods trays whilst his mate in a 1.0 6n2 polo spaffs in his pants over his new ripspeed fart cannon.

I've been waiting to see if someone would post about this. The dheads that go to this need a slap - I am one of those (along with the other couple of thousand people in the area) that are bothered by this. The noise from these meets can be heard in our bedrooms at night - we hear cars thrashing down the Stratford Road and generally making a helluva lot of noise - and we are the fortunate ones that live 1 mile away!

Someone took a photo a week ago of over 100 hundred cars queuing on the Stratford road at night waiting to pull into the car park!

The Stratford Road is being used as a race track - it is as annoying as it is sad, as none of these individuals would lack the skills to safely get their cars around a race track. I live in the area but do I go to these cruises?! No - I take my car to the track or go to Pistonhead meets, not compare c**ks in the car park.

The standard of driving is bad; cars racing down the dual carriageway, late braking and cutting up locals - hence the 'someone will be killed' comments. Every couple of weeks one of their cars will end up in the roundabout.

The other problem is that it gives us all a bad name - chances are some people in my area will probably think that I go to this because I've got a sporty car sat in my garage. Almost makes you feel ashamed at times.

The Police, local media, Tesco, Notcutts and the locals are now all involved in this so do yourself a favour and stay clear.

fking idiots.

IIC they've moved here from Hamms Hall, due to the number of incidents & the consequent Police presence at Hamms Hall frown

Interesting. Thank you.

I live about 4 miles away, so I hadn't got a clue that it was on the scale of the Hams Hall madness.

My interest in Barried tat, smoking tyres, baseball caps and massive stereos is very limited. I will give it a miss.

Unfortunately this sort of thing is just being displaced across the Birmingham region. Several months ago the location of choice was the A45 in Smallheath - regularly there would be 100+ cars parked up in the petrol stations either side of the dual carriageway with idiots racing up and down between the two islands, cutting up other cars, weaving in and out etc. The police clamped down on it and it moved elsewhere (prior to that it was up by Star City).

The only way people will learn is some tough action - people caught doing that sort of stuff (racing, burnouts etc) to have their cars removed and crushed. Seems draconian but I can't think of any other ways to try and stop it - points / fines etc don't seem to be a deterrent these days

Still happens in small heath as I work in tyseley and on night shifts especially at weekend ends all I hear is tortured engines being thrashed locally.
Didn't know about the Tesco meets but I wouldn't be interested in those either with the caliber of fktards who seem to attend these things.

Plenty of empty industrial sites in the west mids.

If it bothers the local councils, why not set up a few timing beams over say 1/4 mile, install some 2nd hand armco barriers and charge £1 entry to help pay for a few paramedics.

Then let them meetup and race there...

Otherwise it's like moving on prostitutes. People are still going to do it. You only get to choose where they do it.

Never knew it was on this sort of scale. Often a late night shopper here if Sainsbury's in Dorridge has closed and I need a pint of milk. I always thought it was just a few lads with 1.0 corsa's dreaming of Max Power mag and Vicky Butler-Henderson before they went home down Monkspath Hall Rd. Or is that coz I'm a 90's throwback!

Most of the gangs I've seen gathering seemed to work for the Highways Agency or their contractors. So much hi viz wear I thought it was an aceeed rave.

Hi viz guys are doing work at tesco at the tesco end, this all happens at the notcutts end by the Stratford Road. It does seem to have quietened down recently, possibly due to local media, and therefore police attention

Seems like an easy fix, but it isn't. The car park is huge and used by a 24/7 tesco, therefore no barriers. For the past 6 months the council, police and Tesco have not been interested, which is why someone sent the story to the papers to try and prompt action.

Ha

I guess these are the same intellectually challenged Barry's that used to cause havoc at Becketts Farm Shop on the A435. There were some accidents there IIRC

I enjoy a hoon out to Becketts Farm Shop for breakfast at the weekends. I can see why it is a good location for a meet, but a civilized breakfast hoon is more my thing.

Small update - the Police rocked up to last Sunday night's meet. In one night they caught 60 people speeding, all of which are being prosecuted. Over the past fortnight they have issued 150 notices for inconsiderate driving. If the same people are caught again they will have the cars seized smokin

Small gathering or a hoon is one thing - meeting en mass, racing up and down the local roads and pissing off the locals is another.

Enjoy the points and fines knobheads!

It's nice the police are taking action against these sort of inconsiderate buggers. If nothing else it's nice of those caught to volunteer to pay a bit of stupidity tax.
