Birmingham is quite big in so much as depending where you are you could be 30 minutes from staffs and the (very) edge of the peaks or you could be 10 minutes from some of the roads out Kidderminster/Wolverhampton direction.

Bridgnorth to Much Wenlock is a good road, then Much Wenlock to both Church Stretton and Craven Arms is excellent.
Better still is the road from Shrewsbury down through Hope Valley towards Bishops Castle, then back over to Marshbrook and on to the A49, to Church Stretton and over to Much Wenlock and home again

My Sunday choice of route in the GT3 or EVO6 depending on my mood!

Dinner stop in the Three Tuns in Bishops Castle as well!

These roads are better done during the day as the Shropshire Hills are stunning and some superb long sweeping bends with some nice tight ones thrown in for good measure!

randomly, this popped up in my FB feed about 10 minutes after the initial post (yes, that's just how intrusive FB is on your own life!).

http://www.jthughes.co.uk/Blog/View/The-10-best-dr...

Our local Honda dealers list of the 10 best driving roads in Shropshire, and number 1 on their list is my favourite road of choice!
There's a section of it through the hope valley which is tree lined almost tunnel like for about 5 miles.
A GT3 in 3rd gear all the way with the window down sounds pretty damn orgasmic! just saying!!!

Thanks for that! I've seen the signs about and wondered what the routes were, will have to try them out one day.

I'm in Wenlock - can vouch for the roads radiating out to Church Stretton and Craven Arms and also the Bridgnorth to Ludlow road as being good... the Stourbridge to Bridgnorth road is usually slow going so I'd definitely go further than that. Essentially the further out towards the Welsh border and beyond, the quieter and the better!

I'm always up for a drive and a bit of grub if a few of you are every venturing over this way.

Plenty of nice roads heading into Shropshire out of Kidderminster.

Further into Worcestershire there is also Fish Hill - not a driving road in the true sense, but a unique slice of Alpine Pass just outside of Evesham.

Back in 2002 I used to drive from Montgomery to Hay on Wye regularly - wonderful roads. Just pick a near as possible straight line on the map.....
