I'm thinking of signing up to take a car to the this event in May. Anyone done it? Is it any fun?

This will be my fourth year. Two drive outs into the surrounding countryside in the mornings followed by a park up in the town centre (closed to traffic for both days). I have friends who won't do it because the public do get up close and personal to the cars but I have never suffered any damage. The drive outs into the surrounding countryside are appreciated by the local communities who often sit out on the verges and pavements to wave participants through.

I suppose I could just make the wife sit in the car all day when it's parked up smile

You'll have trouble! There are stalls all along the river and the shops are open. I rarely see my wife during both days.

I think I'll sign up, and then worry about my lack of doors/windscreen/roof/any-security-at-all later smile

Is there a cut off point for applications?

No idea. It's open now, though.

Don't they expect you to pay to display your car?

Did think about this 2 years ago, but sure I read about payment and decided that was a little bit cheeky...

I think so, but that payment also entitles you to drive around on some local public roads too. wink

Two mornings out driving around the Cotswolds and Warwickshire/Worcestershire (last years route included the Chateau Impney Hill Climb before it was officially open). The park up in Stratford town centre is in the afternoons only and it is a real carnival atmosphere.
