Hi All,

Making quite a big move soon, having lived in London and then in Oxford i have just taken a job in Brixworth starting at the begining of August. My girlfriend has also secured her dream job in Nottingham so we are making a move north!

Not knowing that part of the country well we have chosen to live in Leicester as it will be equal distance to both Brixworth and Nottingham, and she has the option to work out of Leicster as her work has small office there.

We will be looking for a minimum 2 bed flat/ house and can afford up to £1000 pcm on rent.
Been looking on Rightmove/ Zoopla and hope to go and look at some properties this weekend. we should be able to get something good for that budget, prices seem to be about 50% less than Oxford so cant complain.

Any advice?

Thanks

Area's around Loughborough that I'd recomend are Rothley, Quorn & Mountsorrel. Great commuter villages as they are all located just off the A6 which has great access to M1 North at J23 and South at J21. With your budget you'll have the pick of the bunch. ignore the snobbery that people might use to distinguish between the 3... there all the same in essence!

If you stray across the other side of the A6 to Sileby or Barrow your risk been stuck due to floods and the diversions can take ages to get round!

There are plenty of nice little commuter villages around Loughborough and Leicester. Even Leicester city centre is coming on really well, great shopping centre and plenty of really nice restaurants popping up.

Mkt harborugh and Kibworth to the south are nice as well

Mkt Bosworth to the west also, don't bother with the villages to the east its all a bit turnips and 6 fingers out that way.

The standard of driving in Leicester will come as a bit of a shock after oxford you might want to invest in a dash cam

MHPP is a nice place to work by the way

Thanks Guys! smile

We have put an offer in on a place to rent in Leicester (Stoneygate) which seems to be in a nice area with a few nice places around it and not far at all from the city center. Good access onto the A6 to get to work so as long as its not a traffic nightmare then i think i have positioned myself as well as i can.

Already have a dash cam fitted, and i grew up in West London so the quality of driving cant be anything worse than i have come to expect. eek

Queens road (just across the a6 London road ) has a nice student /café vibe and if anything is going on in Leicester bands or festivals ect they are normally on Victoria park
