There used to be a good "irish" pub in Notts. City Gate Tavern I think?

Tis the Park, just beyond the Castle. I do spend a lot of time in Langtry's opposite the Corner House hehe
I used to frequent a pub called Langtry's. Over the road from the theatre. I spent more time in the Turf Tavern next door-ish though.
I used to do a lot of drinking in Langtrys. I got suspended from 6th form due to getting pissed in there when I should have been watching a play in the theatre royal over the road!

Oh happy days. I live in the North West now but I’d move back to Notts tomorrow if her in doors was up for it.

There used to be lots of nice pubs, that weren't spit and sawdust boozers. When I came here in 1993 to scope out the city I went out for a night on the town with my brother. Neither of us could believe how forthcoming and friendly the women were, when compare to the South. I imagined having a good time here and was proved right.

Nope hehe

Proper friendly too!

For several years I lived in St Albans & Nottingham. Say hello to a stranger in Snalbans & they think you've escaped. In Nottishamshire don't say hello & they think the same.

Nottingham is a sthole full of street beggars, crime getting as bad as London, to many non English & ran by a loony labour council who have made this once great city a motorist's nightmare these day's with sky high parking costs a tram system that nobody wanted & don't forget the Workplace Parking Levy where you have to pay the council £400 p.a. to park your car in an employer's car park.
Little wonder many employers have pulled out of "Shottingham".

I have only lived here for the last 66 years & ashamed to see how it's changed for the worse over the years.

As a Londoner who's now back in notts for a 2nd stint after a 15 years abscondence in Sheffield, I was disappointed that the 'circuit' doesn't seem to exist anymore with 20 somethings trying to burn off expensive supercars in their neon light cladded honda civics.

hehe

Mate, you've been spoiled...parking is dirt cheap compared to softy south, traffic moves well and yes there problems but nowt compared to most places. It's a sign of the times.

....but yes, the tram thing is a bit mental

Happy memories there. A friend and I in our 20's heading to Hooters for Chicken, then taking his Boxster S to the circuit to smoke some Corsas driving

The police 'shut it down' years ago, they came down really hard on it until everyone got the message.

Yorkshire now is it?
Yep.

I spent what felt like an eternity commuting out on the A453 whilst they were dualling it, only to leave just before it was done.

Despite having no need, I’m tempted to drive back just to see what it’s like now.

Do that thing. You'll love it. I lived in North Yorkshire & simultaneously Nottisham. Was the best of both worlds.

Spent many happy weekends/evenings in Nottingham. It was the nearest 'cool' city that had bands and for those of us in the provinces (Lincolnshire) that was a big draw.
Three whole pages and no mention of Rock City. Pah, saw so many bands there and at the Poly.
Other places had gone last time I went, the Narrowboat, The Salvation?

Sal is still here, as is Rock City. Narrowboat was demolished as part of the canal side regeneration.

The parking charges aren't TOO bad but the car parks are horrible. Fletcher Gate is like a multi-storey urinal.

They sold the floor off in pieces recently as souvenirs.
