Thanks to everyone for a lovely afternoon out. It was lovely to meet some new peeps too. And thank you Mark for inviting us over. The roast beef was delicious and the Belgian waffle wasn't bad either

Can I have the recipe for your gravy? Yum!

No problem with the drive, but I am a bit uneasay wiyth that photo: you can see what the speedo says, and the driver has already admitted to it. Therefore, as the owner I should point out that the speedo is inaccurate and that was driven on a private test track. Hence the absence of traffic and the ability to do such speed in safety, without breaking any laws.

Remember, people: its a nasty world out there

Ahh another one! I'm thinking of charging Paula £1 for everytime she forgets her camera - I'll be a rich man. We do have a piccy of your car but the sun wasn't right, we should have done a proper line up in front of the pub for Mark

Yes thanks. Someone (mentioning no names....) had left it on my workbench.

Ahem.....

Thanks all for a great day, and great food. Now, if only I can find a driver I could sample those beers

Mark, exactly have many spaces does your car park have? Might be interested in having an Olds-Cool-Veedubbers meet there.

After 26 years of one career I now find myself running a pub. Its The Kingfisher at Preston in Rutland.
Pistonhead members are most welcome to meet up here, Sunday lunches are excellent and served through to late afternoon!!
Weekdays are quiet so come in and say hello, although I'm now hoping to get Monday and Tuesday off.
The weekly menu is also very good. Large well lit car park so plenty of room.
Any suggestions for meetings please ask.
Mention this post and I'll get you a Coca Cola

Mark
Whoa! Just stumbled on this old thread. Some familiar names etc. What`s the current situation at "the Kingfisher" ?

The owner of the Kingfisher is the Grainstore Brewery in Oakham.
Due to financial circumstances the owner had to close the Kingfisher this time last year and was intending to move into the pub as his private house.
I'm not sure if this happened as I moved to New Zealand where my £ goes further, the roads are quieter, the petrol is cheaper....

I have heard a whisper though that the owner of the Hornblower in Oakham wants to buy the Kingfisher...
