Looking at theNottingam cineworld website, it doesnt show Cars yet, but does show late showings- the latest is 23h40 (which might be too late for a cartoon if you know what I mean).

Can I assume that someone kind can arrange a meeting point/ food booking?

Oh, does anyone know a cheap hotel?

'Cars' opens on Friday 28th July at the UGC, The Cornerhouse, Nottingham city centre (opposite the Royal Concert Hall). No times are available at present though.

So, is the 29th a goer then? If so, shall I book a table at The Red Hot Buffet Shack (buffet £14.50 per head, including Thai, Chinese, Indian, Italian, with choices of starter, main course and dessert) or a table at an Indian restaurant? Table for around 8.30pm?

We could meet from 7.30pm onwards in the bar where we met the last couple of times. It used to be called Voodoo, opposite Sonny's restaurant and next door to the Siam Thami restaurant, on Goose Gate.

Cheap hotel is:

The Strathdon Hotel, Derby Road (opposite the Catholic cathedral)
Tel. 0115 9418 501

Currently have rooms available for 29th July. £44 room only (single I believe) and £9.50 for a hot and cold buffet breakfast.
Parking is available outside the front of hotel bar if REALLY lucky. Otherwise they have a deal with the NCP on Mount Street, £7 for 24 hours.

Count me and Mrs BG in, would anyone mind if we bought BG junior along too? he would like to see 'Cars' and i'm sure he'll be OK at the restaurant. He'll be allowed into the pub/bar beforehand I would imagine, but obviously we will pass on any late night drinking/clubbing.

Tables at the Red Hot Buffet Shack are only available on the 29th before 7pm or after 9.15pm.

Times for screenings of 'Cars' are not yet available, so what is the general concensus regarding what time we should eat and see the film?

Just a little logic here maybe?

Is there going to be a late night showing of a childrens cartoon? If we take the view that it is purely marketed at kids starting their summer holiday and not at big kids wanting a laugh, then probably the best plan is

Meet in pub
Have a pint
Wander over to cinema
Watch film while still sober
Wander over to food
Eat drink and be merry.

That way there is plenty of time for everyone and BG Jnr is accomodated too as he can watch the film without having to control a group of pissed PH'ers.

Sounds good to me I'll keep an eye on the cinema times and book a table for 9.15pm. I'd probably fall asleep at a late showing anyway

9:15pm for dinner would be better for me as I'm mechanicing at Donnington this weekend so it depends on whether my dear driver stack's it or not in qualifying as to what time I can make it to Nottingham. But providing i get away from the circuit at a reasonable time me and the latest squeeze will be joining you for a few

Good luck at Donington.

Table booked for 9.15pm, so should be in the restaurant until at least 10.30/11.00pm

Hopefully we should be finished in time to make the film too but no promises it all depends on whether they keep it on the black stuff or not.

'Cars' is most definately not a childrens cartoon

Anyway, the cinema websites are utter shite, as are their phone enquiry menus, I cannot find out from anywhere wether or not Cars is on in Nottingham, let alone find the times for Saturday, UCG website www.ugccinemas.co.uk/Home.jgi?accueil=+ and their phone system says no, it directs us to Harlow & Northampton. Showcase website is just as bad www.showcasecinemas.co.uk/pages/nottingham.phtml You cant find the info for any forthcoming films, even as soon as this Saturday. It would appear that the only info they give out is for current stuff up to Friday, nothing beyond that. Truly appalling.

UGC Nottingham has just updated their times.

'Cars' is showing on Saturday at 17.30, 18.30, 19.30, 20.30 and 22.30. In view of the table booking and the running time of 125mins, may I suggest that we go to the 18.30 showing? Shall I pre-book the tickets so that we do actually get in or shall we all just meet at 18.00?

How abouts we meet in the pub 1730ish, once were all arrived, wander over buy tickets, find another pub for one more drink before the start of the show? I can imagine being summer holidays and a new release it will be pretty busy.
