Well, after all that - my apologies for not making it last night. I got caught in a tailback around Sutton and decided 2 weeks in a row late just seemed, well, bloody rude, so I swore and went home.

It all seems fairly informal. When I spoke with Trevor on Monday I got the impression that they were glad to have people on the course and it was a case of 'more the merrier'. We have been given the opportunity to work on our own cars, space permitting in the workshop. There should be room for four cars, otherwise you can have a tinker with the cars that they already have in the workshop or watch as repairs and checks are being performed on others vehicles.

I may change my mind and come along from next week - it looks like the next few meets will be at Mansfield! biggrin

Off on a slight tangent......any idea what the hold up was, my usual 15 minute run home was doubled and I didn't see any reason why? confused

Apparently there was an accident on the A38 and it was shut for a while.

Someone mentioned flooding to me. I took a detour after sitting on the A38 for ten minutes, and one of the main roads I eventually passed was blocked off to the A38.

Of course! I don't mind giving you a lift or vice versa. I won't be attending on the 29th though. Just give me a bell or email me smile

I came from Belper, and left at 5pm, expecting to have an easy pootle with the rush hour traffic into Mansfield, pick up a burger or something on the way, then sign-in at about 6.30pm. It took me nearly two hours to get from Junction 28 to the venue, I just made it for 7pm.

The A38 into Mansfield was closed, with the resultant chaos.

Really enjoyed it. First time I've done anything more than change a battery, and it wasn't as complicated as I imagined (brake pads).

Can't get my head round £4 for 2 hours of hands-on instruction in a fully equipped garage.

Don't you pay Council tax then? Outrageous isn't it hehe

I think there are hundreds of different courses, from French to basket weaving, IT to photography, all at very nominal cost.

Yeah, I realised the taxpaying argument. But as I haven't done any college courses for years, I'd forgotten what great ('cheap' - ie. I've already paid for most of it) resources we have locally sometimes.

Trouble is, the stuff I've already paid for with my taxes doesn't always coincide with my interests. So I'm paying extra for my Salsa and Krav Maga lessons.

Also, I can't find the West Notts sportscar driving course anywhere on the prospectus.

The lad that was working with myself and Warren last night was talking to us about a course that he is going onto. That is a pre-foundation degree in Motorsport. If that is what you are looking for it might be in their HE prospectus.

Thanks. Imagining a RideDrive type course at £4 a pop, I was attempting irony (StackMonkey and I were discussing our misunderstood* SOH last night), though I guess I underestimated what is available these days.
