Nice to meet you properly too Mr Lurker.
Very nice meeting you too, Emma. Nice car! Corrado now on my list of possible future purchases...Another excellent night.
Good to see Warren's in there also; all the mechanics awestruck.
Commiserations to Judas and AceT; hope the prang backing out didn't do too much damage.

Oh it really is a lot of car for the money. I've spent an awful lot on it (that is relative to purchase price and my pocket) but nothing that you wouldn't expect from a car of its age (95 plate). I spent a great deal of money on electrics and associated parts (crank sensor being one) last year when I think that the issue rested with the ECU relay switch all along (£7.50 part). It's also had a new coil pack, front shock absorbers, HT leads x 2 sets, radiator, wheel bearing, and now some new discs and pads!It is very nippy, great fun and has a look that seems to stand the test of time well. They hold their money well too. It handles really well, with the placement of the large VR6 lump over the front axle being the only issue (and only really a problem when you have to brake rather rapidly). It is faultless in the wet, much of its handling and grip testament to the greatness of Eagle F1 tyres.
The VR6 is the one to have in my mind, but having said that many people love the 16V model. The G60 is a different beastie too. I've never driven or ridden in one though so cannot comment on performance or handling characteristics. They do sound rather splendid though
You are more than welcome to take it for a drive if you are considering a future Corrado purchase. I'm sure we'll be at a meet some time aside from a Wednesday evening. You won't be disappointed. When I took Barney for a test drive I thought he fitted like a glove and knew that it was the car for me.

Hope the prang wasn't a bad one Judas and Ace-T.
I think you'd make young Rob's day if you brought the Chim down. He loves TVRs and would ideally like to work for them when he finishes uni.
We should wait and then bring all the TVRs at once! I think you'd make young Rob's day if you brought the Chim down. He loves TVRs and would ideally like to work for them when he finishes uni.

Long day at work and Vicky was knackered from snowboarding, hence the no show.
Please pass my congratulations onto Vicky for her excellent negotiation of the terms of your relationship. EmmaP said:

What happened?Oh dear. Had a bit of a senior moment when backing out of the bay. Combination of dark/glare from headlights and general fückwittery meant I didn't notice the parked car and didn't have my lock on far enough. I came off far better - just a scuffed bumper. The bumper of the scrapper Mondeo I hit just seemed to fall to pieces! Either it was already cracked or they make them out of recycled egg shells.
Well, at least my car's not pissing oil everywhere any more
But still...

That's a very generous offer, thank you. I wouldn't take it out myself, but I would very much appreciate you taking me for a ride in it at some point.
Well I was planning on sitting in the passenger seat If you can drive then you can drive a VW, so no worries as far as I'm concerned Lurker said:

He was so named by the previous owner so I thought it best to keep it and think it rather suits him.Mine's called 'leaky', after the famous paleontologist.
'Leaky' rather than leek, and named after some fossil forager and not a Welsh comedian.

Sorry to hear about the Alfa picking up a scuff, but at least the butt plug is holding.
BG has just gone onto the AA Relay truck, down to Phantom Motors. It has two distributors, the 1st one takes a geared drive from the engine, and then the 2nd one takes a drive from the 1st, via a toothed belt. It would appear that the drive belt had snapped, so only running on four cylinders. Luckily, it's a cheap fix, the belt is £7, and a bit of labour. I might have managed it as a DIY job, but Phantom tell me it's an easier job if they just take the whole tandem distributor assembly off the engine, and then do it on a bench. But then it has to be set up again properly, didn't fancy doing that myself.
