Saw a silver 56 or 58 plate VW golf on the shrewsbury by-pass today, came up behind me with blue grill lights flashing, had me pretty worried for a minute. Fortunately he sailed on past when i pulled over!
They've got a silver BMW 3-series estate as well - the reg is quite similar to VX09 OCH - see it most days patrolling. Driver nearly lost it on the approach to the Weeping Cross Island the other evening on the way to an accident at the junction of Oteley road with Sutton road[quote]And for the benefit of anyone using the A444 aroundthe Bedworth area -there's roadworks adding traffic lights to Grif island and after the usual newspaper witch hunt about "speeding drivers endangering workers"( strange how the various SCP latch on to a good sourceof income ,in the name of "safety") the vans are almost permanently there .Favoutrite spots -on the grass verge under the bridge to the south of the island targetting north bound traffic ( i.e away from M6) and in the layby before the island (between the hospital island and the Grif ISLAND -this one not so nice as the road curves and with any extra vehicles parked makes the van hard to spot .

Got a ticket for doing 52mph in a 40 at that exact spot.... no workmen in sight....bds..... I was passing a taxi in L1 and that made it impossible to see the scamera van until it was too late.

No it's a working police car.No visual clues- no ariels/lights/mirrors etc...
Maybe just a policeman headding home?
There are 2 of them stationed at Coleshill main traffic station. I have seen them at high speed through Balsall Common a couple of times.

Heres some more for the Nuneaton Bedworth people, BX09 *** grey L200 Pick up with box on the back, only clue is light on the dash & lights in the rear clusters, came flying past us with the Silver unmarked vectra!! Also I was pulled for a routine check by a silver Land Rover Discovery, AJ59 ***,again only clues are the lights on the dash & in rear windows! We also think they've got a dark grey Land Rover too, also AJ59 ***, keep a look out folks

And that black ( or was it dark grey ) Focus was on Nuneaton Ring road ,.There's a black Vectra and a Silver one running around( old style, blues on rear wings, just forward of the bumper )i had what can only be described as a 'pair of c#cks' in the unmarked 3 series bmw in nuneaton following me for a few miles last night.i know there quite hot in nuneaton town with unmarked so i always take my time, but these planks got right, and i mean right up my backside(i was in the tvr),theyve got front fogs on,trying to egg me on.in fact,i slowed right down to 15mph in some areas but they were still right on my back bumper.nearly got out at 1 roundabout to 'have a word' with them.w###ers.

And in same town ,a dark Monseo, oldshape on a BX56 plate -redlights in rear cluster ,and blue on dash .Suspect he was more interested in driver and contents of pockets.New dodge on Ring road ,by idiots .Due to police being slightly warm on limits I always keep close to limit .Some don't like that and will either attempt to get outside you approaching a roundabout and then cut you up ,or pass you at speed and move into the gap in front .Still waiting for one of those unmarked to pick this up .
I was talking to a couple of our drivers in the week and they said to me that in the Birmingham area there reg's start with BX so there quite easy to spot. I thought yeah right,
However i was on broad street last night and there was an Audi A6 which was BX59 *** floating around then on Lawley Middleway a dark coloured 3 series came past me with all the blues on with BX09 *** so im not so sure now!

It's true. 99% of our reg's start with F* and I would say 85& of them with either FJ or FN.However i was on broad street last night and there was an Audi A6 which was BX59 *** floating around then on Lawley Middleway a dark coloured 3 series came past me with all the blues on with BX09 *** so im not so sure now!
They're all sourced from the same supplier and registered at the our local DVLA office, usually in batches. For example I've driven ****FWA through to FWE at various times and know the pattern continues to FWJ at least just because they were all brought in a batch. I imagine we get a better deal that way.
I saw a new one on the M6 today around coventry.... A silver un-marked VW Golf R32. Apparently there's also an unmarked Mini Cooper down there too and an unmarked Black Focus ST.
In terms of the ones round Birmingham, they have a Silver A6 Avant, A couple of Black 3 Series, A Maroon 3 Series and a fleet of Volvo S60's...... Black mainly. The reg's are all HU02 or HV02 if my memory serves (the Volvo's that is)
I live not far from the M6 and they are quite regularly on the roads around where I live.
