Hi all,
Sorry digging this topic but I need your help.

I maybe have a work proposal on Kidderminster and didn't like what I have read.... Chavs mainly.
I don't have a car (I moved to the UK recently) but the work has a company car, so I would have no problem living out of the city centre on a calmer area. The problem is that my girlfriend still needs to improve her English so the work that would suit her would be a face to face position job, like mcdonalds, Aldi, etc, but that only exists on the city centre, and since she has to go on foot...

Hope you can give me some guiding regarding this problem, if there is a nearby city or town from where I can commute to Kidderminster and that some stores and restaurants where she can work.

Thank you.
move to quarry bank area its 20mins to kiddy but you have the merry hill with loads of retail jobs if thats what you need.

Worcester must also be worth a look at?

It certainly isn't far from Worcester by road or rail - it's pretty much the only other reasonably sized town/city option I'd have thought, besides going North/East into Stourbridge, the Black Country or Birmingham as was already suggested. Probably a nicer place to live, I'd have thought. The guy asking was worried about chavs/crime but I think you get that in just about any population centre. I live up in Shropshire which is lovely, but there isn't much work there.

Property in Kidderminster and Stourport are generally slightly cheaper than surrounding areas and there is quite a bit of retail in the town where she could likely find work. It's actually full of shops now and lost most of its industry.
I've lived here my 31 years and have no issue with the place, there are good and bad areas and a mix of people as in most towns.
Bought my first property here but will be looking to move to a slightly more rural location soon with the other half, somewhere easily commutable to Droitwich and Birmingham centre.

Have a look at Kingswinford and Wallheath DY6 area. Both reasonable easy commute to Kidderminster and good transport links to the larger shopping / retail areas for the partner. Summerhill School is the main school and is very good. Hagley is the best place that said but a lot more expensive and transport not as good. Kinver might also be worth a look but less opportunities for your partner.

I'm in Dodford and it's a great location to M5 and near to bromsgrove and Kidderminster. Belbroughton, Fairfield and bourneheath are all nice places with good access to M5 and local towns.
