I was also at AV8 with my wife and son having a breakfast for Mothers Day and we wont be going back there again tbh...

When we booked we were told we would have table by the window on the right. We got one right at the back on the left! All they seemed concerned about was the lunches not the existing customers. The manageress was poor - shouting around the place. She also stood right next to where we were eating saying/shouting "When these finish we'll move this table...etc etc" which is quite rude and off putting when you are trying to eat!

I felt sorry for the younger serving staff tbh and watching them you could see thier eyes roll when she bellowed.

...and the sausages were not very nice!

Glad it wasn't just us then!
We were there just after 9.15 and the tables were reserved for lunches! Unbelievable really.

Ah well, their loss.

This reminds me of a gastropub in Chew Magna when I turned up around 6pm for a quick bite after a lovely country hoon. The place was empty with lots of reserved signs. No way we could have a table as they were all reserved. What, the place will be completely full in an hour? Yes.

Eyed obviously forgotten me from the decent food review I had written for them a month before... Needless to say the re-review was not kind.

Quite why places don't realise the importance of treating all your customers well escapes me!

It seems an alien concept to a lot of businesses. If I don't look after my customers I don't have a business, quite simple really.

We have been going here for a number of years now !
Why not stick with, it's the folks who attend are important, not a rude manager !

For me, thepls points of AV8 are:

reasonable size car park
cool semi derlict planes strewn around
its on an airfield (I like planes)
breakfast is above average generally
the coffee is pretty good

downsides

it can be bloody cold inside as well as outside
slow service when there are quite a few of us
they don't understand the meaning of "no beans - I hate baked beans"

Guys,

AV8 seems to be a good place to go and meet, location and planes are indeed cool! As I live up the road is it worth popping over and discussing concerns with the Manager - potentail lost business, socail media negativity that sort of thing...

Maybe a bit daft but a thought.

Not being allowed to sit at a reserved table?! Wrong table location?!

All outrageous things and frankly you would expect more from a Michelin starred eatery! Oh, hang on it's a cafe on a windy airfield.

I would take my £1.20 worth of business elsewhere! That'll show 'em!

I could understand if it was a fast food outlet but it portrays itself as a bit of a posh cafe due to the customers that generally use airfields.

Some of us don't like bad service when paying good money.

Think you missed the point or just misread the post. A rude manageress is not the best way to run a business, you may tolerate it but I don't

I'd almost always go with 'tolerate, it's only a cafe' but after Dilligaf left there was a cringe-making few minutes where banshee#1 was shrilly bawling-out the usual/helpful staff in the kitchen loud enough that several discreet groups of people sitting in the cafe exchanged 'wtf?' type comments acrosos the floor.

It's no way to win friends and retain clients. I do like the venue.

hehe

We certainly did that smile

Regarding the reserved seats. They were obviously reserved for lunch so why not say to peeps..."OK they are reserved for XX oclcok so if you do take them could we kindly ask you to be finished by (XX - 15 mins)" or somesuch!

Afterall we are in for breakfast not an all-dayer. They also get to 'sweat their assets' and get some revenue through the tills.

It is a great venue regarding all the man stuff but I hate ste service furious

I believe Trouble House is closed on Sundays. Very popular, so the car park isn't that bigsmile.
