yes Damn Straight!! The autosolo nerves are setting in already though hehe
Is the Noble going properly now?

There's a trackday on the 12th. I might try and get to that if work allows.

I'm still waiting to see the new and improved Noble on track biggrin

A huge apology to everyone for being so slow to post about the event and my sincere thanks to everyone on PH generating interest in, and positive vibes about, Supercar Saturday. Have you ever noticed how work keeps getting in the way of your motorsport?

As one of our loyal volunteers has pointed out, this year the event is week or two earlier than usual in order to trick the sun into shining this time round smile On offer is:

  • Admission £5, kids free
  • Group parking for clubs, free - let me know up front if you want a reserved space
  • 5-lap track passenger rides on track £20 to £60 depending on car and driver
  • Autosolo organised by Bristol MC £20 for tuition and three timed runs on the course in the paddock in your own car
  • For experienced track day drivers only (no offs allowed!), VIP Package of 30 minutes on track in your own car, Autosolo entry and passenger ride of choice, £100. Just 6 places left for this offer.
As has been said, we could use some more interesting cars with experienced drivers on track so please PM me with your offers asap. We could also use some more volunteer helpers to operate the event on the day, again, PM me please. And of course, one thing everyone can do is to help promote the event and bring people in for passenger rides and Autosolo runs as this is what generates the charity donations.

My thanks again to everyone for your interest and support for the event. Anything you can contribute will be greatly valued by the Stroke Association and the people they work to help.

yellow I just rebuilt my engine so it probably isn't sensible to bring the vette along this year, but if you are stuck give me a shout and I'll try and get a few miles on it.

Thanks Chimtvr, I don't want to be responsible for wasting your newly rebuilt lump. Always looking for nice cars to park up at the front of the paddock, as well as people who know how the event works to help with running it on the day. In the garage 'stuffing and ripping' for example smile

Let me know if you can make it along for this.

I'm pop along in the Arosa (or a mysterious new car) with a few mates - should a pleasant time. Can't commit 100%.

Will there be a PH parking area?

Flex - the Arouser should be just the business to win the Autosolo with. A guy tried it in a Bentley Turbo last year but that was on the big and heavy side for the job. The Autosolo is run by Bristol Motor Club - see description here: http://www.bristolmc.org.uk/Reference/solo_explain... This is a proper motorsport event, so doing it makes you pretty much one step away from F1 smile It's quite likely that Ron Dennis will be there scouting for talent to replace Lewis.
Video here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=szNhT5EW0KY for a small extra fee, we can arrange for Andy Laurence to NOT stare at you in a strange way smile

Haha - looks like I would get lost. Is Bristol MC membership needed to enter it? I might persuade a few mates to try as well.

I'll be coming and bringing the OH, too. Looking to do some laps in something properly fast to scare her (and me) silly.

No, the idea is all the money goes to charity. For your £20 you will get instruction beforehand (so you don't get lost!) and then three goes at the two lap course with the best two times going on the 'top gear' board. You can then have another three goes at a tenner per time if you are feeling competitive! The winner on the day will get a nice trophy presented at our annual presentation in February. If you want to join then you can on the day, just speak to one of the team, it's a great club.
I'll be sideways in the MX-5 so come and say Hi and better still get your name at the top of the board!

Thanks! I really should have edited the video before posting it. I can't make it this year, so you can avoid my strange stare. Most importantly, it's awesome fun and not half as tame as it looks. You'll learn a lot about controlling your car too. Just remember that few people are fast the first time they turn up. In fact, I can only think of one person who's been quick at their first event and he's been top of the leaderboard the last two years.

Take a passenger ride in the MX5 - it'll be worth it....

Think the website needs updating with confirmed cars -

It's still showing "Awaiting info", which doesn't help attendance when we're only 10 days away?

Stroke Association Supercar Saturday Page

Hope this is taken as "constructive criticism" as I fully appreciate it's all carried out by volunteers for a VERY worthy cause!

Currently abroad, and I know it's still 10 days away but any indication of weather?

I'd love a crack at beating Deano on the timed runs, and also giving passenger laps in my Noble but have a strict deadline to be the other side of Winchester by 5.30pm on the dot. - anyone know if that would cause issues?

Cheers

Thanks all for the interest. A few answers:
Flex - Bristol MC has played a blinder by getting the MSA to recognise this as a'taster' event so it's a proper motorsport event but you don't need to join the club as Andy rightly says. A small amount goes to insurance but the vast majority goes to the charity. As several folks have pointed out you have fun. What's not to like? Bring all your mates!

Matt - completely fair comment. I have supplied a list to the Stroke Assn PR people but nothing posted yet. They are down on staff in several areas. I've also supplied stuff for them to Fb and Twitter but tbh I don't have time to follow that, do this and convince my boss I actually still want my job smile You've been before and know what to expect - a mix of race cars, roadgoing sports cars and whacky stuff. A good few Radicals (everybody loves em), MGB V8, Ferrari 355, Aston GT4 racer (probably), Caterhams (of course), TVR Sagaris, BTCC spec Honda Civic racer, Elises, VX220, Morgan racers, Evo 10 400BHP, etc. Star Guest is Slim Borgudd, 1980s Swedish F1 driver sponsored by ABBA! Have invited Nigel Greensall, outright lap record holder (in a Tyrrell F1). Frankly we could use a few more interesting cars, volunteers welcome, please PM or call 07961 565970

Lawrence - you're welcome to bring the Noble up to 2 or 3pm and leave to suit you. I have others arriving at lunchtime so that would work fine for us. Please get in touch. Ref weather, I was at Combe this morning making final arrangements with them and the rain was biblical. There wont be any left by next weekend at this rate so it must be sunny by then smile

Thanks to everyone for your efforts. Can anyone please try to spread the word onto groups for adjacent areas? That would help us out.

Rich,

Thanks for the info, as I expected some very tasty metal that should raise some decent donations for the S.A -

Weather wise, we appear to be looking good at the moment, 10% chance of rain according to the Weather Channel (I like those odds)

Could we actually have (whisper it!) a dry Stroke Association Supercar day?

biggrin

Thanks for the help with that posting, we will have a newish M3 with Kyle Tilley driving and we also have the Angus Gorringe Combe GT championship BMW Z3M Coupe as well. Two very quick drivers in nice BMWs.

A couple of 'late entires'

Mark Rawlins, MGB GTV8 4.8 (one of my mates took a ride in this and was still shaking a week later!)

Lawrence Horne, Noble M12

Ian Gillingham, Porsche Carrera GT (yes, that's the 612BHP $448,000 one!)

That last one means we're definitely not cheating to call the event 'Supercar Saturday'
