This magnificent & iconic aircraft is doing a 3 hour flight this Saturday afternoon, weather permitting, & she will be doing fly-by's (not displays) at various, important to her sites, around England & Wales, which includes Staverton, Filton, Cardiff Airport & RAF St Athan.

She will be leaving her home base at Doncaster at approx 3pm on Saturday taking in Coventry & Birmingham Airports before heading to Staverton etc.

Whilst not a display anyone who hasn't seen, or heard, this wonderful aircraft should make sure they see her on Saturday afternoon.

Full details can be found on the Vulcan To The Skies website.

She will not disappoint I can assure you of that. It might be one of the last opportunities to see her in the air so if you can go see her.

Going to Plymouth on Saturday and don't think I'll be back in time unfortunately.

Never mind, be looking over an 85' yacht a client has just purchased, apparently the old one was too cramped!

I have seen 558 twice this year - at RIAT.

I had never seen her fly before the Friday at RIAT. What an aircraft. what a noise.

A Citation? I know a 7 year old who would love to have a look around that - not to mention a certain 53 year old who is 54 on Saturday....

Anyway. 558 flying over my home city on a Saturday afternoon, on my birthday. Can't wait.

No times confirmed yet. I'm guessing 4pm ish @ Staverton with a 10 minute hop down the M5 to Filton. Update will be made on Friday afternoon with times to be confirmed on Saturday morning.

However if the weather is bad she probably won't fly as due to CAA regs she has to fly 'visual flight' which is below cloud base so if the cloud is too low she won't fly.

SixF - I see you have the same X Type as me. What do you think of it? I love mine. Apart from the fact it loves petrol stations!!

I've seen it flying every year since they got it airworthy again. Not this year so far but Saturday should change that smile. Its such an awesome sight/sound isn't it! I remember it doing displays at RAF Locking in Weston-s-Mare and watching it from my bedroom window when I was a kid so I have fond memories of it!

You're more than welcome to come and have a look around the Citation (a mere Bravo I'm afraid!) if you want? As I say we should be landing just around 1330-1400 inbound from Farnborough (depending on how quickly we can get away from Farnborough and if the passengers are on time etc). It may be a tad messy though as we're positioning in back from a charter!

THIS

Being (ever so slightly!) older than HF, I managed to enjoy many "Flowerdown Fairs" at RAF Locking (I grew up in Locking village) - all this back in the day when we didn't have the namby-pamby rules about not flying over the crowd line.

My favourite aircraft to see at displays, ever - I agree with the sentiments above - if you haven't seen this magnificent machine in the air, make every effort to do so.

I think I may pop over to Filton if it goes ahead. Any idea where the best place to watch would be?

Have always had a soft spot for the Vulcan after seeing the one on display at RAF Cosford as a small boy.cloud9

A38 will be busy and there is no parking. your best bet to head to the small industrial estate by the Porsche, BMW and Mini garages which gets you quite close to the end of the runway. alternatively park at cribbs then walk back on the new link road where there are numerous mounds of rubble from the house building work and you will have a great view from left to right.

I'd guess it'll, pass along the runway so if you park near the blood bank you'd get a view of it coming over head. Go out on A38, double back under the bridge, then keep left and take the slip road. There's an industrial estate there so plenty of space. Mind you I expect the spotters will be out in force!

Very pleased with it, had the transfer box and prop done as it all went pear shaped. I don;t do an awful lot of miles so fuel economy wasn't a big issue but it's better than my 540i and certainly not as bad as many people make out. Then again I am a driving god, so smooth and flowing... wink

They are asking for donations for the fuel on Saturday

(So far reached 6k of a required 15k) -

"A Diamond Jubilee Tour is planned for the Vulcan this Saturday 29th September, (subject to weather and technical conditions) visiting locations that played a key role in developing this remarkable aircraft.

This tour will derive no commercial income, so we are asking our supporters and the general public to make many, many, small donations. The more we receive, the better it will be - as it will allow us to fill up XH558 tanks for a more comprehensive tour. It will help more people become aware of the aircraft as we plan a large media campaign to coincide with the day.

We would like to reach as many locations as possible.
How you can help?
Please consider a donation of £3, £5 or £10 by using our dedicated text service for this event.

Help us by texting TOUR123, TOUR125 or TOUR1210 to 70070. (£3, £5 or £10 as you desire) from your mobile.

Please make sure you have the bill payer's permission. Calls will cost the amount you donate and one standard text message from your service provider. The charity, Vulcan to the Sky Trust (Reg Charity Number:1101948) will receive 100% of your donation by using this JustTEXTGiving service number.

If you are a UK Tax payer, you will have the opportunity to offer Gift Aid, by following the link provided in your receipt."

Namby pamby rules - who recalls a certain, sadly now long gone, former Red Arrows pilot who flew a Spitfire along the start finish straight at Goodwood a few years ago at less than 50 foot off the ground? The same pilot who also took great delight in flying his Red Arrow Folland Knat at 30 feet just because he could!

These amazing feats of flying are viewable on YouTube.

Ray Hannah. Genius.

As for 558 - i just hope that the rain stops before Saturday as if it doesnt she will not be able to fly due to the VFR rules she has to abide.

More namby pambyism.

Grrrrrrrrr.

+1 and a really nice bloke. Some years ago I was fortunate to have a chat with him at the Revival after he had finished a great display in MH434.

Sadly missed.
