I think the industrial estate off the slip road that is by the runway sounds a better idea ???

She is due over Staveron at approx 4pm so I guess Filton will be around 4.30pm. Don't know though how many fly-by's she is doing at each point on the route - will it be just one or maybe two or three?

Who knows? Who cares though as just to see this beautiful aircraft flying will make my birthday, which is tomorrow, very special indeed.

SWMBO still doesnt understand the fuss about 558. She says, & I quote, 'it's just an old aircraft......'

Not sure how to convince her otherwise although if she sees 558 tomorrow she might change her mind.

Without a doubt worth going to see, felt quite emotional last time I saw it, but then I am old enough to remember when Vulcans (and Victors and Valiants)were still in service. I have one particular memory of a time when international politics (or at least the politicians) were playing brinkmanship, and most people really didn't know how it would all end, but when four flights, each composed of three Vulcans, flat out, black smoking exhausts, at low level, heading east, everyone out in the streets looking upwards and convinced this was IT, not a moment easily forgotten.

What an aircraft. I recall sitting on top of the Rock, in the warm Mediterranean sun, for hours on end, watching them take off a land. cool

Now I'm showing my age. hippy

Anyone going to be at Staverton today to see it? Hopefully park up by the Aviator pub.

I'm going - off to Staverton in a while with my 7 year old son who has never seen 558. I'll be in the Aviator at some stage later this morning.

Didn't see this thread but was driving along that new road next to Filton just as it went over. What a plane!!

Does anyone on here own the yellow Porsche 993 (badged as a gt2 but not sure if it was genuine) that was parked on the side of the road?

Spent all day working in a machine room at Barnwood (not far from Staverton) - we came outside a few times in the afternoon, but it must have flown over whilst we were stuck inside. grumpy

Salt. In. Wounds.

Was waiting for it at RAF Halton (yes not SW I know, but it was coming over nonetheless), popped into the bar to get a pint, came out and it was disappearing into the horizon.
