Well does anyone want to have a bit of a get together sometime to discuss it? Free this weekend?

Would it not be better to try and promote the AV8 Meeting rather than dilute the area by having more meetings ????????

Ted, I agree that the AV8 meeting should be pushed, but reality says that people dont attend maybe its too far north for some people to go to? There is obviously a want by people locally to meet somewhere? Maybe there is room to have different venues and meetings. I personally would got to AV8 or where ever else is decided....

I agree, the AV8 is a good 30 min drive from me and i'm going completely out of my way for it hence i've never attended but have always wanted to.
I have several ideas for venues, i should have some updates tomorrow on locations that would be central to most of the people that have replied.
Hopefully the first meet can be penciled in shortly after that!

I am also Malmesbury and would be up for this. I wonder if Castle Combe would allow us to meet at the circuit on a Sunday. I have good contacts with the circuit so could have a chat

I would certainly be up for this. Castle Combe is a possibility, but I think you might struggle to get any sort of catering.

AV8 is a 1.5 hour drive for me (Holcombe, Somerset) so as great as it sounds, I'm unlikely to make it there.

Bath/Corsham area is much more practical for me at least! wink

AV8 is over an hour drive for me, have made it to one meet but it is a trek so a closer meet is always welcome.

Castle Combe may not be so great come summer when they'll have all manner of events on requiring paid entry.

True, it could also be off-limits until the season starts as there's a solar farm being installed between now and then.

Nowhere near Bath/Corsham but the Castle of Comfort pub on the Mendips is a great place for a meet. There have been meets there previously, it's a half decent pub and most importantly - some of the best driving roads in the area are found on the Mendips.

What about that pub next to Bath race course? Nice and open, decent roads around the area like A420, and easy access to motorways for those coming a bit further?

The carpark there isnt too big if im honest, its an alright pub but just too small imho, esp in summer with races n all.

How about The Mill House

Is this too far for people? On main roads, good carpark, good food, kids play area.

I'd suggest the Compass Inn just off J18...We've used it for meets before and good food in the orangery smile

Is your local motor club not an option?

I'm a member of Bath MC, most of us compete is some way or another but there are plenty involved just for the social aspect, meet at the Rose and Crown in Hinton Charterhouse every month.

Like many, I'm not really into just sitting in a pub waffling about which polish I prefer but the club organises full on road rallies, scenic runs, autotests, treasure hunts, scatters, even the odd skittle night and quiz if that's your thing. The Friday night 12 car navigational rallies are a proper blast and we involve clubs from Devizes, Cirencester and Bristol. We also send out teams to marshall on some of the major stage rallies including Rally GB and have been to see the Williams factory amongst others in the last year.

Just a thought!
