Can I submit ,for your consideration, the Cross Hands Hotel at Chipping Sodbury.
A very accommodating and friendly pub that is already host to a number of car club meets, I know the management well after they looked after our Hotrod meet through the summer months last year.
Some of you may recall.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&a...

A large car park and even a paddock (often freshly mowed in preporation for a meet) available once the weather is suitably dry.

If anyone is interested I am happy to enquire,I am sure they will welcome all well behaved petrolheads.

Is your local motor club not an option?

I'm a member of Bath MC, most of us compete is some way or another but there are plenty involved just for the social aspect, meet at the Rose and Crown in Hinton Charterhouse every month.

Like many, I'm not really into just sitting in a pub waffling about which polish I prefer but the club organises full on road rallies, scenic runs, autotests, treasure hunts, scatters, even the odd skittle night and quiz if that's your thing. The Friday night 12 car navigational rallies are a proper blast and we involve clubs from Devizes, Cirencester and Bristol. We also send out teams to marshall on some of the major stage rallies including Rally GB and have been to see the Williams factory amongst others in the last year.

Just a thought!

wavey Hi Duncan.... didn't know you were on here.

I second Duncan's note, we're a friendly bunch at Bath MC and new members are always welcome.

Rose and Crown in Hinton Charterhouse once a month, not sure on the next date and it's not listed on the website currently... hopefully another member will chime in!

Usually first week of the month at the Rose and Crown, Hinton Charterhouse just for a gossip.

7th/8th February is the Festival Road Rally which we organise so social side a bit on hold as everyone tied up with that in some way. If you're bored that Saturday night, White Horse Country Park at Westbury is the place to see what we do, 60 cars entered leaving about 10pm for 140 odd miles of entertainment! They'll re-appear at about 5am on the Sunday looking a little less shiny than when they started.

I'm running as event closing car in this, easy to spot, come and say hellowavey

Ok guys, I've got what i think would be a suitable venue. I guess it's all trial and error at this stage so if this venue does not work we can get our heads together for an alternative.

It's at the Northey Arms in Box, Wiltshire. SN13 8AE which is on the main A4 and is fairly central to where most people have replied that they are coming from. Michael does great breakfasts or just butties/rolls if thats what suits us.

Shall we aim for a 8.30am in the large car park on the 1st Sunday of the month which is the 8th Feb? Once we get an idea of numbers and what people are looking for we can hatch a plan and organise drives etc for the next meet.

Who can make it then?

I'll be there. I once had a pretty serious bike crash just around the corner from the Northey, scorch marks are still on the road! I drive a stickered silver Alpina B10 V8 smile easy to spot.

To the other posters. I'll also pop down to see everyone at the Rally wink

Goodness me, the Bath Festival Rally, I did this in 1983 & 84, back then when it was proper road rallying, nice to see its still going, fell out of love with rallying quite a few years back now frown

1st Sunday of the month is Feb 1st !!! If you go to 8th Feb I expect many including myself will be going to the Queens Square Bristol meet which is every 2nd Sunday of the month.

Yep, having been off the calendar for many years, we re-invented it four years ago and you might recognize some of the faces involved now from when you last did it. The days of the Motoring News style road rallies are long gone, too many houses to pass and far too much traffic even at night. We now run a maximum of 60 cars but it's still a proper challenge for both crew members and they'll know they've done an event by the time they get back to Westbury.

I had a letter through my door some weeks ago to tell me that the rally would be passing my property at around 2am etc.

It struck me that they must be a very considerate and well organised lot!

I shall be outside my house watching them pass smile

Back on topic - Sunday 1st would be better but I can also do the 8th at the Northerly.

Well, we're not normally accused of that! smile

We've letter dropped/door knocked every household along the route that could be affected, it takes quite a team to do it but if we don't, spoils the chance of getting a permit to run the event again.

Some clubs aren't quite as diligent and it causes massive problems if people aren't told. I've come hurtling around a corner in the middle of the night to find an irate local blocking the road in pyjamas, brandishing a baseball bat and a dustbin lid. Quite an odd sight!

Or you end up even more serious like the farmer shooting at Paul and I on an event a few years back... probably the one time I didn't mind cutting route!!

Another person in Holcombe? I've not seen your Jag at all? I'm on Longleat Lane.

Edford Lane, my car is usually parked behind the house. I don't drive into Holcombe itself all that often as I find it easier to get to the main roads via Frog Lane or Green Lane unless I'm going into Bath that is. I tend to drive the Z4 if I'm going into MSN in which case I use Longleat Lane.

You will probably see me all the time now!
