Count me in
I organised an M3cutters forum meet there last October, so could ask on there if all ok with it ???
(yes we do behave ourselves )
Not being funny and no disrespect to you or 'the cutters' but this is how things get out of hand. PH event like this with a date disclosed in an open forum = clio.net, stowners, scoobies.org, evo.com, vtr.cz etc etc.I organised an M3cutters forum meet there last October, so could ask on there if all ok with it ???

That was a good event.
Re Banned i think there was a few issues with another group that turned up on the same day. I may be wrong.
As for PH banned i think it was arranged with cheddar themselves but they could not stop people meeting up at the same time there and paying for the parking without asking cheddar.
Been to a few events there and great to meet up with fellow PH'ers who are all like minded.

Wasn't there was a bunch of pecker-heads who thought it would be okay to wheel spin, drift and donut their way up the gorge? IIRC someone even received a punch to the schnozzer.
it was the issue with the last big event we had there and resulted in the issues we had. Ph event gets around to other forums as they turn up and bang we had issues a shame that
Sadly, while the majority of idiots were from outside PH, a number of them were PHers and ones who at the time at least were regulars.
You're never going to be able to keep everyone away from this, but it is definitely worth talking with Cheddar Gorge about this (for starters they own the car parks, they aren't public ground) and perhaps organising to have something stuck in the window of those who put their name down, Sunday Service style. I know it sounds a bit regimented, but we certainly weren't very welcome after that last meet.
If it's to happen it ought to be with the consent of 'the gorge' johnnies.
IIRC parking fees were waived and some PHers took it upon themselves to 'organize' parking which helped a lot.
When a zillion petrol heads from disparate groups turn up en masse it's not likely to end well.
Best of luck.

That's my video! Didn't realise it was quite so long ago....(really needed a decent camera, and some actual editing skills but I do still like the music choice).
I'd come again, I went to all 3 of the bigger chedder meets and they were great. The last one had an amazing line-up of all sorts of interesting things it's just a shame it got a bit too big and there were a few associated problems.
Think this gives a good idea of how many cars there were and how many people were all over the roads everywhere, it stopped traffic flowing, caused issues with the Gorge buses and generally was a bit too busy and potentially dangerous. See if you can spot yourself in the vid:

Ben - post it widely / in the events section with a month to go and you risk the kind of attention problems such a meet has had before.
I was about 6feet from the guy getting his nose bloodied at the last PH meet in Cheddar. In some ways, that was the least of the event's problems.
ETA for the benefit of people new to Cheddar - it's rightly popular as a destination also for walkers of all abilities, tourists, climbers - lots of climbers of all abilities; cyclists, and up top back toward Priddy, equestrians too.
Suddenly addin a few hundred cars one sunny Spring weekend morning, with the kind of inhibition-suppression typical of such events to blokes who should know better - and it generally does the wider PH community no favours at all, sadly.

So with just under a month to go we have 19 people signed up.
I guess people are holding off signing up until a few days before the event as they don't want word to get around that this will be a 'big' meet. So far, it hasn't been shared anywhere so it currently looks like it will be attended by 'well behaved' Pistonheads members.
It would be good if could get half of the attendance of the 2010 meet...as long as everyone parks sensibly and doesn't drive like clowns then i'm sure this will be a good meet.
I was also thinking of a Pistonheads meet in May/June at Portishead lakegrounds if anyone is interested.
