Morning!

My wife and I are in the process of relocating back to the UK, and I would like some "local advice" about flood risk areas around bishops cleeve/Cheltenham and surrounding areas.
We are coming back after a couple of years living in the Austrian Alps and the Cotswolds seem to fit, with work!
We are looking at a lot of areas/property an using the government website for assessing flood risks.
Stoke Orchard and Winchcombe have caught our eyes, plus bishops cleeve (close to work), but i don't mind a 30min commute!

Any advice would be muchly appreitated.

Cheers Luke

All the information you need is avaliable via Cheltenham Borough Council's Website or the Environment Agency's Flood Map. (just noticed you've mentioned the EA's site). CBC have also condicted flood risk studies.

Whilst not 100% conclusive it will provide information that may assist you in your property searches. Dont forget that you can also undertake flood risk assessment via your solicitor or conveyancer at purchase (probably use the Environment Agency info anyway).

I ran a construction site not too far from Bishops Cleeve (just down the road from the Racecourse) and needless to say we had terrible trouble with groundwater flooding. Two years later following completion, the site was hit with terrible flooding during the Gloucestershire floods and took another three years of corrective measures to get back up to pre flood condition.

However I think the thing is to keep it in perspective. The Gloucestershire flooding was a 1 in 200 year event. Bishops Cleeve is also reasonably elevated and by the looks of the maps provided above, rivers flood on the downward lower side of the slope from the village/town.

So it looks like we will be relocating at the end of august.
Does anybody know of any short term let accommodation in the area? Ideally we dont want to rent for 6months whilst finding a house...

Air BnB hasnt been so good to start with.

Also...any guys from Winchcombe? It looks a lovely area that we are going to explore whilst back next month.
