Good local Cider?

If you are prepared to travel to North Somerset, check out Thatchers in Sandford (a couple of miles off the A38, near Churchill). They have several varieties at a fantastic price. Took some to Le Mans last year, doesn't last too long in the heat, so you have to drink it quickly...
PS If you are minded to make the journey, head to J22 on the M5 and head north on the A38 as the local roads are all being worked on at present - mega diversions!

You can buy their scrumpy by the gallon, but it's not pasteurised so it'll only last for a week before it starts getting 'orrible. Otherwise, they do plenty of bottled varieties that you can order online.
20 litres of Farmhouse Draught for £28.80...if you give them a call they should be able to sort you out with what you need. www.sheppyscider.com/

First time I was taken to Mudgly we were followed into the Cider farm by two harley-type bikers; long hair, tattoos, leather jackets, dark glasses, etc..... They arrived in a Renault Espace and had driven all the way from Cambridge just to refill their barrel for a party !!!!!!! It's that good!
First time I drank it I didn't ralise how strong it was. Two pints while watching a CD and I walked into the doorframe leaving the room. Got absolutely trollied that night and no trace of a hangover the next day.
It works out about 50p a pint if you take your own containers.
Get some stilton while you are there - it's the creamiest available in Somerset.
Just two words of warning.
1) Don't touch the freebie samples if you are driving - 6% is only a guide strength
2) Don't ever be in a hurry when visiting Mudgly

Nice one gents. Bought some today in Tirley but sounds like Wilkins might be the one to go for next. Thanks for all the advice, I have a week off so might make a road trip out of it. Last chance to get the roof off Trevor before I sell it 
I seem to remember buying some "Cripple Cock" whilst driving through Somerset a few years ago, that stuff was awesome - does it still exist?
Think I might be in for a good night tonight though, Old Spot in Stroud followed by muchos home brew drinking ... it's got to be one of my 5 fruit and veg portions surely?

If you find yourself at Hicks Gate (Keynsham roundabout on the A4) head to the old farm shop off the roundabout. Don't know where they get it from, but they sell some superb stuff.

-off there on her own... 'cos I'm pitching a tent in a farmers field just outside Mudgley for a fortnight!! Wilkins's cider is good stuff...but it is only around the 6% mark ( We tested some in our Labs at work ).Cider does tend to effect people in different ways to lager and the like.Apparently there is a local cider available at the Somerleaze Farm shop at Wookey that is 9.1 %.That ought to make you fall over and talk total bo££ox.
