Cracked it! 38.72 and a class win into the bargain! Another trophy to add to my extensive collection of er, two.

After being Mr Consistency all Summer this time I was all over the place, with a 43.35 shocker as Saturday's first run, then 39.99 and 39.47. Back up to 40.15 in final practice this morning and then 39.26 to take the class lead on the first timed run and 38.72 to keep it for the second. One more round on 10th September when I'll have some other Scimitars to run against - I'll be no. 20, so come and say hello if you're there.

Then the big question: another set of A048s for next year or switch to slicks?

congrats on the 38 second run nick, and the class win. It certainly was a good weekends hillclimbing all round I thought. Shame the season comes to a finish so soon but then I suppose it gives us a chance to tinker with the cars for next year. See you in a couple of weeks. Ben

Anyone coming out to play this Sunday?

I'll be there - No 138 plus the old man is going to have a go too. I've been eating too many pies to go for a pb, but you never know!

Looking at the entry list, there are 2 Vipers entered, so some rubber burning action looks in order.

Cheers

Andrew

Hello Andrew, thought I saw the car, how did you get on?

Only managed third in class to the other Scimitars - but then I was giving 50+bhp away to most of them - still lowered my PB to 38.26, though, which was nice - especially as I managed to stuff it into a tirewall at Wiscombe on Saturday. Silver duck tape looks quite good on a purple car.

Anyone got a 300bhp Essex V6 they don't want?

Had a good day really. I equalled my 2nd pb of 34.10 but managed to scare myself in 2nd practice with a field-bank-field-bank tank slapper through the adverse camber bit of hollow...

I'd used more revs in 2nd and pulled 93 on the way in and only had the slightest feather of the throttle and that, it seems, was a bit quick without wings. After that I thought i'd take up rally cross as Karousel and Ashes were taken sideways!

A realy good season though. I've got entry forms for Curborough on 15th October but that's a long way out of Dorset for me.

Cheers
A

That sounds entertaining - has someone built a winged version of your chassis, or do you have to invent it all?

Sunday was it for the year for me, my entry to Longleat was too late and, in any event, the clutch started to slip on the way home from Gurston. Not a hint of it on any of my runs, so dead lucky in one sense, I suppose, but I have a much longer list for the winter than I was planning to tackle.
